Chapter 1: Prince & Queen
"Prince, Prince!" A cheerful voice called out to the young man sitting at the marble table with two friends in front of the Faculty of Engineering building, as a young woman walked directly toward them, waving her hand.
"Looks like Prince's girlfriend is back again!" August teased with a light laugh.
"Girlfriend, my foot! I'm so sick of it. When will I finally be free from this pesky girl?" the young man replied irritably.
"She's really pretty, why don't you like her?" This time it was Wayne who asked.
"She's pretty, but with a bad personality, she's not for me," he said seriously, with a face full of boredom.
~Prince~
Hello, my name is Prince, which means Prince. My real name is Prince, I'm 21 years old, 189 centimeters tall, and as handsome as if God himself favored me. I'm currently studying in my third year at a renowned private university, majoring in Civil Engineering. My parents run the largest real estate business in the country. I moved to a condominium since my first year because it's convenient, close to the university, and I don't have to wake up early. Plus, I love going out at night with my friends. If I meet a beautiful girl I like, I'll bring her back to my room...
I don't need to spell it out, do I?
The "troublesome girl" my friends mentioned is named Queen. Her name is derived from mine... her parents named her to pair with mine. Our parents are best friends, and our houses are next to each other. We've been playmates since childhood. I know she thinks of me as more than a brother, but I only see her as my little sister.
She moved to the same condo as me when she entered her first year of university, but on a different floor. I'm on the 10th floor, and she's on the 9th.
Back when we started entering our teenage years, as we were about to walk back into my house, we overheard our parents talking about wanting us to get engaged.
Since that day, I started distancing myself from her, while she clung to me even more. She probably thinks I'm meant to be hers and hers alone.
Our feelings are completely the opposite. I express through words and actions that I don't love her, but she doesn't seem to care at all. She keeps doing everything I don't want just to make me love her.
I really have to hand it to her for her persistence.
What kind of woman is she? So shameless and relentless.
"Prince, have you eaten yet?" she asked me when she reached the table where we were sitting.
"I already ate," I replied flatly.
"Aw, that's a bummer. I haven't eaten yet. I was going to invite you to eat with me," she said, looking disappointed.
"Go eat, I've already had mine."
"But I want you to come with me," she insisted.
"I'm busy," I said, biting my lip.
"You're just sitting there. How are you busy?" She wouldn't give up, clearly determined to make me go with her.
"Busy means busy... why are you bugging me?" I raised my voice at her.
"Fine, I'll go. I'll come see you later," she said, her face falling slightly.
"No need to come, I've got class."
"Then I'll just come to your room later... see you," she said before walking away.
I let out a heavy sigh.
I probably won't go back to the condo today... If I know when she's planning to visit, I'll dodge her by crashing at a friend's place or coming back late.
~Queen~
Hello, my name is Danica, nickname Queen. My name means Princess or Queen. I'm 19 years old, 175 centimeters tall. My personal motto is beautiful, fabulous, proud, and a bit arrogant, like a spoiled rich girl who always gets her way. I don't let anyone walk over me; if someone's nice to me, I'm nice back. If they're mean, I can also be mean to them.
I study in the Faculty of Communication Arts, year 1, at the same university as Prince, the guy I just went to see. Prince is my first and only love. My feelings for him changed when I was 15, and now it's been 4 years since I've been persistently seeking his love, but he always ignores me and takes me for granted. But I'm not discouraged. I will make him love me. Prince has to be mine and mine alone.
"Your eyes are red. Were you rejected by Prince again?" April's voice asked me as my friend sat at the long wooden table under the Faculty of Communication Arts auditorium.
"Yeah," I replied, nodding slightly. I sat down on the chair, feeling dejected and filled with intense disappointment.
"You're still not used to it?" This time it was Anna, another close friend of mine, speaking.
"When will Prince ever feel something for me? I've loved him for 4 years, and he doesn't even have a girlfriend. Could that be because I am not pretty? Do you guys think I'm pretty?"
"You're pretty. You're very pretty," Anna's voice stretched out.
"Yes! You're pretty. It's just that your Prince doesn't see it," April chimed in.
"Do you think Prince might already have a girl he likes?" Anna asked with curiosity.
"No way. I've already looked into it. I have dealt with every girl that tries to get close to him," I said confidently.
"I think you should just give up on Prince, Queen. There are tons of handsome, rich guys interested in you. You should focus on them instead of Prince, who doesn't even notice you," April said seriously.
"I can't. I love Prince. He's my first and only love," I said with determined eyes.
"But he doesn't love you, you know?" Anna's voice chimed in.
"I'll make Prince love me. Just watch," I declared.
"The sky will probably fall, and the earth will crumble before that happens," April said skeptically.
My friends tell me every day to stop loving Prince and open my heart to other guys, but I don't like them.
I'm a one-love kind of girl, and the only guy I love is Prince.
