"Rivi," a new voice came through the door just as Archer recovered from his state of primary shock and blinked at me. I turned towards it to see Dr Ashworth giving me a kind smile.
"It's time to prepare for your surgery, darling."
My throat clogged up and I suppressed the urge to cry. I wanted a reaction from Archie- good, bad. Who gave a s**t? I just wanted something to know where we stand.
I was never the type of girl to do the whole 'if a boy doesn't wanna be my boyfriend it'll break my heart' thing but Christ it hurt knowing he didn't want something official with me.
I nodded and, still saying nothing, Archer placed his lips gently onto my forehead and then, giving Dr Ashworth a polite nod, he made his way out.
I closed my eyes for a second to gather myself and then forced a grin
