Sam’s Point of View
“Ma'am Sam, Atty. Romualdez wants you in the meeting room in 5 minutes,” my secretary phoned me.
“Okay, thank you.” What's this? Another case?
I went to the meeting room and sat in my favorite spot. Right side of my boss. I waited for others to arrive. Lenard sat beside me, but I didn't give him time to talk. I swirled my chair backwards.
“Anong mayro’n?” I asked my boss' secretary who is distributing starbucks coffee.
“Bago,” she replied. “Cute,” she mouthed to me. I rolled my eyes.
After a while, pumasok si Boss at talagang ikinagulat ko na kasunod niya si Kyle. Si Kyle na naka-coat and tie. Si Kyle as in, si Kyle.
He didn't say any word. He is full of confidence and I wonder how he pulled this stunt.
“Hello, ladies and gentlemen,” My boss, Ronaldo Romualdez, greeted.
“I would like to introduce to you, our new associate lawyer, Atty. Kyle Alejandro. He graduated at Washington College of Law. For now, he will work with Sam on her case.”
“Excuse me, sir, but I thought Sam and I will work on that case together?” Lenard asked arrogantly.
“You will be transferred to Zambales Mining Case, Lenard,” Mr. Romualdez replied.
“Sam, take the apprentice to your team to help you with the documentation.”
“Yes, sir,” I replied.
The meeting lasted for 2 hours. I looked at Kyle not knowing what to think. He looks, well, damn. He looks hot with his glasses. Damn.
The meeting was adjourned, and I picked up my notes and so was Kyle. He is not speaking to me and I didn't dare to say anything.
“Really, you graduated at Washington? You didn't give me vibes,” Lenard started. He’s still sitting on the chair, hands on his head. Looking relax. Kyle is still cool.
“Well, it's your problem not mine,” Kyle replied.
“I am watching you,” Lenard said. Full of arrogance.
“Good. I work silently. You may want to try it for once,” Kyle replied sarcastically before we left the room.
“Kailangan mo pa bang patulan si Lenard?” bulong ko kay Kyle habang pabalik ako sa office ko. “Nakakairita ang Lover boy mo,” bulong din nito. I rolled my eyes.
“Kailangan nating mag-usap. Sa office ko.” Hindi kumibo si Kyle pero sumunod siya sa office ko.
Kahit naka-heels na ako, matangkad pa rin si Kyle sa akin. Hanggang tainga niya lang ako to think I am wearing a 4 inch heels.
“Really, Kyle? Attorney?” I asked pagkasarado niya ng pintuan.
“Hindi lang ikaw ang matalino, Samantha.” Sumandal pa siya sa pintuan ko. Lord. There is something sa glasses niya na gusto kong sabunutan ang sarili ko at napapansin ko pa iyon.
Tinaasan ko siya ng kilay. I crossed my arms and stared at him.
“I am a lawyer. Hindi ko nagamit. Mas gusto kong humawak ng baril kaysa nasa korte,” parang bored na bored pang sumagot si Kyle.
“Bakit hindi ka nagsundalo na lang.”
“I was a SEAL. May I go now attorney?” he replied. He sounded annoyed.
“You were, what?”
I texted Lise.
Ako:
Lise, bruhilda ka. Anong alam mo kay Kyle? Kala ko architect ‘to?
Lise:
Diba kasama ni Marie dati ‘yan sa work niya. Duh. Archi siya... yata
Ako:
Abogado siya. Abogado.
Lise:
Ohhhh! Hindi ko alam iyon girl. Bakit ba sobrang apektado ka? Hindi ba makalusot ang logic mo?
Ako:
Sort of.
