The untouchable queen
The strongest walls are not built with bricks—they are built around the heart."
Morning sunlight poured through the tall windows of Crestwood High School as students hurried through the gates. Laughter echoed across the campus, but one thing remained the same every morning.
Everyone's eyes turned toward the sleek black car that rolled to a stop.
The driver stepped out first before opening the rear door.
Calista Morgan emerged gracefully, dressed in a perfectly pressed school uniform. Her long dark hair flowed over her shoulders, and her confident stride made it seem as though the entire school belonged to her.
"She's so beautiful," one boy whispered.
"I wish she'd notice me just once," another sighed.
Calista heard the compliments, but she didn't spare anyone a glance. To her, everyone else was invisible.
Her wealthy parents owned one of the biggest companies in the city, and she had grown up believing that no one was good enough to stand beside her.
As she walked through the hallway, students instinctively moved aside, clearing a path.
"Good morning, Calista," a girl greeted nervously.
Calista ignored her.
Inside the classroom, her best friends were already waiting.
"Did you see the new student?" one of them asked.
Calista shrugged as she took her seat.
"I don't waste my time looking at people who don't matter."
The bell rang.
Moments later, another student entered.
Unlike Calista, Daniel Carter carried a worn backpack over one shoulder. His uniform was neat but old, and his shoes had clearly seen better days.
He greeted the teacher with a respectful smile before taking his seat near the back of the classroom.
Several girls stole glances at him.
"He's actually handsome."
"And I've heard he's one of the smartest students."
Daniel paid no attention. He opened his notebook and focused on preparing for the lesson.
During lunch, Calista walked through the courtyard surrounded by her friends, while Daniel sat quietly beneath a large tree, reading a biology textbook.
Their worlds couldn't have been more different.
One ruled with pride.
The other lived with purpose.
Neither knew that fate had already begun writing a story neither of them could escape.
As classes ended for the day, laughter echoed from a nearby corridor.
Then it was interrupted by frightened cries.
Daniel looked up from his book.
Students had gathered in a circle, whispering among themselves.
Curious, he stood and walked toward the crowd.
The moment he reached the front, his expression changed.
Calista had Olivia backed against a locker, gripping her wrist while the terrified girl struggled to pull away.
The crowd watched in silence.
No one dared interfere.
Daniel clenched his fists.
He took one determined step forward.
