Chapter 3: Mine

800 Words
UNKNOWN POV James take the high ridge and circle back to meet me at the house. I mind link my beta while we are out on a perimeter run. James is my beta and my best friend. We grew up side by side practically as brothers. His father and mine are best friends and were alpha and beta before us. I trust him and he trusts me. As an alpha wolf I need my pack to trust me to be successful. I am a strong leader and when it comes to the rumors of being a ruthless heartless beast... I know they don’t live up to the real me. I smirk to myself as I trot through the forest thinking of the stories I’ve heard about my reputation. My wolf is massive and intimidating so when other wolves see me they tuck tails and bow out of respect or fear. I’m not a complete monster, I lead my pack and do everything in my power to make sure we are the strongest and most profitable. I love the way the earth feels under my enormous paws. I can connect fully to my wolf out here in the forest, it’s like nothing can stop me. I come to the edge of the cliff over looking the south border. The breeze picks up and inhale for any scent that seems like a threat to our lands. Wait... I smell something new, something captivating. Honeysuckles, warm vanilla, and delicious fruits, I could eat it up if I could only find where it’s coming from. My eyes begin to turn a dark amber as I growl low to myself. Mine. I search the vast land looking for any sign of movement. There! On the road a white car is traveling in the winding roads. It is a public road way so any wolf or human can travel it. One of our many agreements with the neighboring towns. I have to stop that car, in an instant I leap down the cliffs side balancing on rock after rock trying to move faster. I see the white Jeep that I can make out now that I am closer. A car is nothing my wolf can’t handle. Being supernatural has its perks. I sprint toward the road and stand firmly in the lane of the vehicle. If it’s a wolf they will feel my alpha presence and if it’s a human than most know about the wolves in the area and will stop. The car isn’t slowing down though, I brace myself to stop the car on my own. It’s traveling pretty quickly but the speed limit is 45 mph for the curves around the mountains. In a second everything changes, I hear the brakes squealing to stop and the car jerks to my left and begins rolling down the embankment of the road. I kind pink James. James where are you? I’m on the North side of the territory what’s up? he quickly responds. I need you in the southern territory quadrant 3 now. I make sure to add some alpha power into the now so that he will understand the urgency. I’ve got to get down there and help my mate. I can hear her yell out I pain so I quickly make my way over to her. I remember I’m in my wolf form and if she’s a human she might be frightened by the sight of me. Then I smell it , I smell blood and being cautious goes right out the door. I move quickly trying to get to her and then I see her face. Although it is scratched up and bloody from her head wound she’s the most gorgeous woman I have laid my eyes on. Her tanned ivory skin and dark reddish brown hair falling onto her face accentuates her hazel green eyes. I keep stalking toward her taking in her every feature. AAAAHHHHH WHAT THE.... She just sprayed mace in to my eyes! Damn! That really burns. I let out a growl from the discomfort and rub my eyes trying to remove the stinging. I shift back into my human form so that I can easily rub my eyes with my human hand versus my wolf paws. Once my vision comes back into focus I am pissed. Who the hell does that? I start to glance around at the Jeep looking for a sign of my mate. She’s gone. Where the hell did she go! I shift back into my wolf and begin to sniff the air and sense out her blood trailing into the woods. Oh you can run mate but you can’t hide. I smirk as I begin my hunt for my beautiful goddess.
