The Disappearance
It was a peaceful Thursday morning in a small town of Inula. The golden rays of the sun stretched across the street as families prepared for another ordinary day. Children hurried to school, shop owners opened their stores, and the town buzzed with its usual morning energy. Inside a cozy house on Ifo Street, three-year-old Amara Parker was getting ready for school. She stood in front of a mirror, proudly wearing her school uniform and her tiny pink backpack. In one hand, she held her lunch bag, and in the other, her favorite stuffed bunny. "Amara, are you ready?" her mother, Sarah, called from the kitchen. "Yes, mum!" Amara answered excitedly. Sarah smiled as she looked at her daughter. Amara's bright eyes sparkled with happiness, and her tiny curls bounced as she ran toward the door. "Someone is excited today,"Sarah laughed. "I want to see my friends!" Sarah bent down and kissed her forehead, let go then. Mother and daughter stepped outside into the warm morning sunshine. Sarah held Amara's tiny hand as they walked towards the school a few blocks away. Along the way they sang songs together. Amara giggled whenever she forgot the words and made up her own silly versions. For Sarah, it felt like a perfect morning. Once she would later wish she could relieve forever. When they reached Inula primary school, children were already gathering in the playground. Sarah crouched beside her daughter. "Be a good girl today, okay?" "I will mum" "And listen to your teachers." "I will mummy." Sarah smiled and kissed her forehead one more time. Amara wrapped her little arms around her mother's neck. " I love you mummy." Sarah's heart melted, "I love you too." Amara ran happily towards the classroom door. Just before entering, she turned around and waved. Sarah weaved back. Neither of them knew it would be the last time they would see each other that day. The morning started normally without anybody knowing what was set for the day. Amara laughed with her classmate during story time. She colored a picture of animals and played with building blocks. Everything appeared completely ordinary. But shortly after the launch, around 1;15pm, the children were taken outside to the playground. The teacher supervised as they ran, laughed, and played. Tiny footsteps raced across the sand, the teachers watched carefully as usual. Amara Parker stood near the small slide, holding her stuffed bunny tightly in her arms. She had been laughing just moments before. Then something changed. A distant sound broke through the usual noise. At first, it sounded like engines. Teachers paused, glancing towards the street beyond the school fence. The sound grew louder. Closer. A sudden unease spread through the playground. "Children, stay close," one teacher called, her voice tightening. Then it happened. Several vehicles appeared near the school gate, moving too fast for a normal stop. The cheerful atmosphere collapsed instantly. The teachers exchanged confused looks, and then fear set in. People began shouting — words overlapping, unclear, urgent. "Get the children inside!" one teacher screamed. But it was already too late. A group of armed intruders rush towards the school grounds, forcing their way in with terrifying speed. The sight alone sent panic through everyone. Teachers tried to guide children away, but chaos erupted. Some teachers ran towards safety, others froze in shock, and the children scattered in confusion, crying out for their parents. Amara stood still for a moment, clutching her bunny tightly, unsure of what was happening. The noise, panic, the shouting was too much for a three-year-old to understand. "Amara!" a teacher shouted, reaching for her. But in the confusion, she was swept away from sight. Children were gathered and forced together with their teachers. The children's small voice rose in fear and confusion. Some were crying, others were calling for their mothers. The playground that had been full of laughter only minutes before had turned into something unrecognizable. And then, as quickly as it began, it ended. The intruders left as suddenly as they came, taking the twenty children and eight teachers with them into waiting vehicles outside the school gate. Silence followed. A heavy, terrifying silence. Broken only by distant sirens beginning to rise in the playground inside the school building, teachers trembled as they realized what had just happened. At exactly 3:00pm, Sarah arrived at the school gate, smiling as usual, expecting to see her daughter running into her arms. Instead, she noticed something strange; parents were gathered in groups, whispering. Some were crying, others were shouting. A police car was packed near the entrance. Her stomach tightened instantly. Something was wrong. She rushed forward. "Where is Amara?" she asked the first teacher she saw. The teacher turned slowly. Her face was pale." We...we couldn't stop them," she said softly. Sarah blinked. "What are you talking about? " The teacher's voice broke. "They took the children away with their teachers." The world around Sarah went silent. For a moment, she didn't understand the words. Then they hit her all at once. "No," she whispered." No, that is not possible, Her voice rose. "Where is my daughter?" she grabbed the teacher's arm. "Where is Amara? " But the teacher couldn't answer. She only cried. Within a minute, the school was surrounded by police vehicles. Detective Michael Carter arrived, his expression immediately changing when he saw the scene. The chaos. T he fear. The empty playground. Something has gone terribly wrong. He turned to an officer. "How many children?" the officer hesitated." Several...we're still counting." Carter's jaw tightened. " And witnesses?" The officer looked down. " Too much confusion. Everyone ran." The detective slowly looked towards the playground. Amara and some other children were somewhere out there, taken in the middle of a school day, in a place meant to be safe. And now, every second mattered. Sarah stood frozen behind the police tape, staring at the empty school gate. Her hand trembled uncontrollably. Her daughter had left that morning smiling, holding her hand, singing songs. Now there was nothing. Only silence, and the beginning of a nightmare she could not wake up from TO BE CONTINUED
