Chapter 3

Lexi's mind was racing as she tried to process everything Ethan had told her. She couldn't believe she had stumbled into a world of wealth, power, and sabotage.

"What do you need me to do?" she asked, her voice firm.

Ethan's eyes locked onto hers, filled with determination. "I need you to help me uncover who's behind the sabotage. I have a few suspects in mind, but I need someone with your skills to help me gather evidence."

Lexi nodded, her heart pounding with excitement. She had always loved a good mystery, and this was the most thrilling one she had ever encountered.

As they began to brainstorm, Lexi's phone buzzed with a text from Rachel. "Meet me at the coffee shop ASAP. I've found something big."

Lexi's eyes met Ethan's, and she knew she had to go. "I'll be right back," she said, grabbing her bag.

At the coffee shop, Rachel was waiting nervously. "What is it?" Lexi asked, her heart racing.

Rachel leaned in close. "I've been digging into Ethan's family, and I found a dark secret. Something that could ruin their reputation forever."

Lexi's eyes widened as Rachel revealed the shocking truth. Ethan's family was hiding a scandalous secret, one that could destroy their empire.

Just then, Ethan walked into the coffee shop, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Lexi. "Hey, what's going on?" he asked, his voice casual.

Lexi hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But Rachel beat her to it. "We know about your family's secret, Ethan," Rachel said, her voice firm.

Ethan's expression turned icy, and for a moment, Lexi thought she saw a glimmer of fear in his eyes. "What are you talking about?" he asked, his voice tight.

Rachel pulled out her phone and showed him the evidence she had uncovered. Ethan's face went white as he scrolled through the documents.

"It's not what you think," he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper. "I'm trying to fix it, Lexi. I promise."

Ethan took a deep breath and began to explain. "My family's company is involved in a joint venture with a rival firm. But what you don't know is that the rival firm is being run by a corrupt CEO who's embezzling funds and using our company's name to cover his tracks."

Lexi's eyes widened as Ethan continued. "I've been trying to gather evidence to take to the authorities, but it's not easy. The CEO has connections everywhere, and I'm not sure who to trust."

Rachel nodded, her expression softening. "That makes sense. We saw some suspicious transactions, but we couldn't figure out who was behind them."

Ethan nodded. "It's all connected. I'm trying to stop him, but I need help. Can I trust you both to keep this quiet and help me gather more evidence?"

Lexi and Rachel exchanged a glance, and then nodded in unison. "We're in," Lexi said, her heart pounding with excitement.

As they began to brainstorm, Lexi realized that Ethan was telling the truth. He was trying to do the right thing, and she believed him.

But just as they were making progress, Victor Vex walked into the coffee shop, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on Ethan.

"Well, well, well," Victor said, his voice dripping with malice. "Look what we have here. The Black family's dirty secrets exposed."

Ethan's eyes locked onto Victor's, his jaw clenched. "What do you want, Victor?" he growled.

Victor smiled, his eyes glinting with triumph. "Oh, I just wanted to let you know that I'm one step ahead of you, Ethan. And soon, the whole world will know the truth about your family's empire."

Ethan's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. "What are you talking about, Victor?" he demanded.

Victor chuckled, pulling out a folder filled with documents. "I have proof of your family's wrongdoings, Ethan. And I'm going to make sure everyone sees it."

Lexi's heart sank, realizing that Victor was the one who had been sabotaging Ethan's efforts. But Ethan didn't back down.

"You'll never get away with this, Victor," Ethan said, his voice firm. "I have evidence too, and I'll make sure you pay for what you've done."

Victor sneered, but Lexi saw a flicker of doubt in his eyes. He wasn't as confident as he seemed.

Just then, Rachel stood up, her eyes blazing. "I've had enough of your lies, Victor," she said, pulling out her phone. "I've been recording our conversation, and I think it's time we went to the authorities."

Victor's face turned white as Rachel dialed the police. "You'll never take me down," he snarled, but Lexi saw the fear in his eyes.

As the police arrived and took Victor away, Lexi felt a sense of relief wash over her. Ethan's name was cleared, and justice was served.

But as they left the coffee shop, Ethan turned to her with a serious expression. "Lexi, I have to tell you something. Something that could change everything."

Lexi's heart skipped a beat as she wondered what he was going to say next.
