Chapter 2:KIDNAP

2003 Words
ORION sat in his Audi answering calls that he thought were important and letting the less important ones just ring. His driver announced that his next stop was just a few minutes away. The car came to a stop in a street buzzing with people. Orion checked his watch, expecting the person he was coming to meet. Another call came through and he so badly wanted to ignore it, but picked it up anyway. A slight knock ensued from his side of the window and he tried his hardest to just focus on the call he was on, thinking whoever it was would get the hint and disappear. They didn't. The knock continued and he let the window down to see who it was. "Good morning, sir. We are the helping hands of the foundation and today is our meet and greet event. Everyone could be a part of the party in any way comfortable for them. A little donation can take us a long way, kind sir". Ember said, stretching forth her box of chocolate to Orion. He stared at the box and the girl with shiny brown hair and caramel eyes. She smiled broadly. Her energy felt young and had a slight resemblance to his. His face remained neutral, no emotions whatsoever. Not even a slight expression crossed his face. His hand made its way to the window button and he raised the window up, shutting it on her face. Ember's jaw dropped and she frowned. Stubbornly, she knocked on the window again, this time making it annoying. He rolled down the window again, staring at her still emotionless. "Just want you to know, sir, I won't be going anywhere. The faster you weigh the situation and see which suites you best... the better". Ember matched the emotionless look on his face. She wasn't scared. Most times, people just flinch at the stern appearance of Orion. It surprised him this little kid had the guts. Orion finally dumps a hundred dollar bill into the box of chocolate and Ember flashed him a quick smile before turning away from him to meet her brothers. "Apparently, that man was an absolute no joy. You can't believe he blew me off at first" Ember said unbelievably, as she went toward her brothers. "At least, he finally dropped a hundred dollar bill. That would buy a whole lot more chocolates for the foundation". Eldric said collecting the chocolate box from his sister. "Still, it doesn't excuse what he did at first. If he wants to remain silent, I can silence him forever". She said, using her hands to demonstrate how she would slit his throat. Her brothers laughed at her joke, knowing she could probably do it when she got a chance. No one likes to mess with Ember, the last girl in their school that did is happily somewhere else around the world. Somewhere far away from Ember, her parents made sure of it. "Come on, let's try to get more donations before the meet and greet. It starts early this afternoon". Eden ushered them both towards another couple just standing near by. "Meet and Greet!!!". Ember exclaimed jovially to get the couple's attention and it worked. Her brothers exchanged a glance before laughing. Orion watched the boys smile as she talked to them, joked with them, she even made a gesture of slitting her own throat. He knew that was meant for him. Immediately, he guessed they were triplets. The bond was there, their eyes, smiles and total body gestures, gave it all away. They were relaxed around each other and that's how it always is with family. His memory of almost having a family once if only he had changed his ways back then, he wouldn't stop hunting him. He had the perfect mate he could shape the way he wanted. The woman that could give him optimum satisfaction just by touching her. Her skin was the creamiest but he was way so deep in his head that he lost the gold right under his nose. All he did was cause her pain and relished every moment of it. A man in his late 20's came towards the car and the driver opened up the door to let him in. When they were set, the driver moved the car. *** THE morning sun draped through the white satin curtain. Luna turned in bed and cuddled the pillow closer. Her door opened and the maid came in with a rag in hand. She was a little surprised her boss was still in bed at that time. She tried her best to wake her up and not get on her bad side. After the fifth tap, she finally opened her eyes. Luna shut it quickly then started opening her eyes gently to readjust to the light after regretting her first move. Her eyes stung less but the headache hammered her skull. "What time is it?" She asked, holding her head. The hangover came into full force as soon as her entire system woke up. "10:35 am, ma'am," the maid replied. "Oh s**t!" Luna jumped out of her bed with widened eyes. She was late for work and she had a lot to cover before she could attend her children's event. She rushed to her morning preparations, skipped breakfast, grabbed a coffee and drove herself. The morning was already busy, you could hardly guess it was still morning. She encountered a little traffic before reaching the office at around 11:28 am. As fast as she could, she began attending meetings, looking through proposals, approving projects. She told her personal assistant to attend her child's event on her behalf and extended her apologies. She knew very well that her kids wouldn't let her leave it. Probably, she would have to sacrifice a whole day of work to do whatever they want. That day just can't be today. The urge to know all that happened yesterday kept slipping into her mind as she tried hard to concentrate. She really had a rough past with the toughest man that roams earth. Every time she tries to forget, but her guts keep telling her that running away wasn't the end. Deep down in her, she knew that. "You have a meeting, ma'am" her secretary, Sarah said, sticking her head through the office door. She opened up a little bit. "Why are you standing like that?" Luna questioned, pointing at Sarah's position. "I knocked, ma'am, but you didn't respond, so I opened up the door a little to check on you and pass my message... in case you forgot" Sarah said, finally coming into the office. Luna sighs. "You could have used the office phone, Sarah". "I did, twice, but you didn't pick". Luna couldn't believe her ears. She didn't know she was all in her head the whole time. No wonder she went through a file over and over without making progress. "I'll be there". With that said, she went to the board room to join the conference. "We have tons of bids for the property. Three of our clients have the full payment, five others have an upfront fee of five hundred thousand dollars and the rest, well, they would like to invest in it" Mary, her staff, gave the report. "Who are the rest?". Luna asked, feeling her headache come back slowly. "The list is quite long, ma'am". Mary said again. "Good. And let's keep it that way. Add an incentive, increase the minimum bid and place it on the market. We have our target company we want to work with and our dream company; we must have one". "Yes, ma'am". They all responded. "All projects are doing well in Tokyo as planned. We have three buyers already. By tomorrow, it will be signed off". Jenny said, smiling at their achievement. "I also heard that we have more turnover from our recent projects than we anticipated and we all thought we could celebrate it. That's if it's okay with you, ma'am". Elena contributed. "The other project we tabled at the last exhibition has reached its maximum bid. What do we do? Should we sign the deal?". Max, another staff member asked. "Ma'am? Ma'am? Are you still here with us?" Max asked, and everyone's attention was now on her. She zoned out and held her head painfully. It was almost like she was under torment. "Ma'am?"... "Dismiss", Luna ordered, before excusing herself back into her office. She was sweating hysterically and the headache didn't seem mild anymore. She opened up her drawers and popped a pill of painkillers. She downed the entire contents of the bottled water. How amazing her life would have been if she hadn't started off roughly. Perfect marriage and a family under one roof. That's just what it takes to live a happy life. Having three grown-up kids without their father is a pinch. Every time they ask, she comes up with a new line of lies. Though, she did explain how he looked and how she hoped he behaved towards her. She couldn't tell them the truth or something viable that could leave a trace to her past. She fears unlocking it. All she buried over seventeen years ago. She had almost forgotten who she was, what she was and who owned her once, but the memory somewhere never seemed to stop hunting her. Anywhere she turns, she feels his presence and in his presence she feels naked. It had been a long time since I was bathed in the moon trying to neglect the fact that she is a wolf. She promises herself to bask in the grace of the moon at night when she gets home. It would feel good if she went back home and met her pack. The joy of being accepted surpasses everything, but she doubts it. She ran away and that's a great offense. She would be lucky if they didn't kill her, supposing she returns. Her lies could calm her children down when they wanted their father the most, but not anymore. They are grown and smarter now. She has been preparing for their confrontation, if it comes. She doesn't know when but her gut feeling tells her soon. "Remind me never to overdose on wine again". She said almost to herself before the ring on her office phone pulled her out of her thoughts. "Yes, speak. No, that project isn't available at the moment. Don't bid on it, the deal won't be made". She put down the phone and shook her head. She prays that luck finds her and she doesn't have to deal with such clients at this moment. The phone rang again and she picked up. "No, I won't be making such a deal with you. Have a little patience till the owner willingly declares it available. Only then can you bid" she hung up again, getting infuriated. The phone rang for the third time and she practiced her breathing exercise that helped her calm down before picking up. "You are still repeating the same sick thing. It isn't right to forcefully claim property from anyone, whether by emotional blackmail or flashing money all over their faces. You need to think. Have a nice day". She hung up the third time, getting tired of having to convince a delusional client. How on earth would you plan on other people's properties when they aren't even ready to sell them? Luna tries to stay calm and resume the files she was going through. The office phone rang yet again. This was it, she had enough. She picked up furiously. "What part of having a nice- WHAT?". "What do you mean by missing, Kim? You were supposed to be looking after them". Luna rushes out. "I personally hired you because of your reputation in Karate or Judo or whatever. We're talking about my kids here, Kim?". She said, already sweating profusely. "Don't give me crap, Kim. Find them". Guess that gut feeling wasn't wrong after all.
