Chapter 6: ErinMax, who’d been waiting patiently outside the back door, turned and looked at her as if to ask, ‘Why are you dawdling, woman?’ and Erin unlocked the door. Wishing she’d vacuumed more recently, Erin was also painfully aware that her students’ last assignments lay scattered across the coffee table and her dining table was covered in a medley of socks, underwear and an assortment of books and magazines she’d been meaning to read but hadn’t gotten around to yet.
