Chapter 1 - Enraging Fire
The fire is on set, I am lying on my bed .
Room are still in the dark.
Its 10pm in the evening, a night where sleep is scheduled early for us orphan children.
When I wake up and look around the room, the smoke from the fire are raging and it become thick as the fire consumed the wooden door and slowly enter the room, ready to swallow every single things it could burn.
My Eyes widen in realization and I immediately run outside the door.
Wrapping the blanket on my own tiny body, covering my nose from the smoke that slowly savaging my lungs.
People are screaming, child cries echoed in my ears, the noise of fire burning with sound of feet running to survive from this fire, is all I heard.
Everything is in chaos.
Panic is all I feel, a wood with fire drop on my way and I stop running.
All I know is, I need to survive and live no matter what.
Because this is not the end, I can't accept this. I will not let it.
Full of determination, I run on another corner of this building knowing that there is another exit that might save me from this fire.
I run like there is no tomorrow, adrenaline keep me vigilant to avoid more damage from the fire,
I keep on running. When accidentally I bumped with a young child.
Still panting, I look at the child expression
She's not familiar, and she seem lost.
She's coughing and crying. Her face is covered with fear and tears, dress are full of dirt and some burnt.
I stood up and she look at me. Hoping for help as her eyes pleaded while tears are still streaming on her brown eyes that reflect the fire.
Another wood with fire fall from above us.
I instinctively jump from my place and push her.
Now were both lying on the floor, I look over my shoulder. My blanket is now on the other side where I stood before, slowly eaten by fire.
I turn my attention to the girl. I sat on my knee and help her to sit, I look on her eyes putting my hands on the both side of her shoulder,
"You'll live, were going to survive, trust me, i got you" telling her as I nodded for assurance and carry her in my arms.
She wrap her tiny hands on my neck, and I run again.
Now everything is on fire, my breathing is getting heavier, I need to get out of here immediately. or else we would die.
I turn another right. Til' I reach the way outside this building.
The light cast by the moon, give me hope. I'm tired, and feel suffocated by the fire smoke, but never the less I keep on running.
The girl grip tighten, as if her life depend on me. And we successfully got out from the terror place.
Out of breath, I look at her as she slowly open her eyes. She's still sniffing, a faint of smile showed on her face. A sign of relieve can now be seen, she mumbled 'thank you' as she lost consciousness.
I look around. The sound of siren fill my ears, scream, and cries. Wave of shock present on those children eyes, adults are now consoling other children to calm, as ambulance continuously arrive.
fireman keep on spraying water to calm and stop the fire, shouting for commands.
The building is now turned into fire, like a wood swallowed in a fireplace. Police are assisting victim, with seriousness plaster on their faces.
My clothes has some burnt, and visible soot and smells, and sweat from fire. My hair is messy. But I really don't care, the shock I feel take all the care I have on my looks.
A Men caught my attention, as he walk toward my direction, followed by a worried woman, running toward me. As she slow down and pick up the girl I held on my arm.
Now she's crying, checking, and tightly hugging the girl I saved. A smile of relief creep on her face.
And with that, my eyes slowly turned into blur.
Last thing I know, is I'm lying on the ground as I slowly close my eyes, the person who first walk in my direction turn into panic as he ask me something I couldn't hear, my sense of hearing faded. As I let the Darkness consumed my senses.
Feel of relieve came, as I let my tired body get some rest.
My unconscious self, took me into a dream far from the fearsome event.
All I know is I'm relieved, that I'm safe, that I'm still Alive, and will be living.
