Prologue
There is a world wherein technology is not needed nor invented, why? Because the beings living there do not need the help of technology, instead, they have magical powers, incredible speed and strength. They are vampires. However, the situation there is not that different from humans, those with power always get the advantage and those with no royal blood, are treated base on their ranks or status in the society. There are five ranks in the vampire world. First is the highest rank, Class S, all royal bloods are labeled as Class S. The general’s family, all members of the family of a soldier or knight, traders and businessmen’s and women’s family, belongs to Class A. Those with professional occupation such as doctors, nurses, engineers and teachers, belongs to Class B. While those with their own small rice fields, illegitimate family of men from higher classes, fishermen and farmers, belongs to Class C. And the lowest rank is Class D, this is where families of servants, slaves, unemployed, useless vampires, belong. This a story of how a commoner became a princess and how she will changed the world she belongs. Let’s begin.
*Third Person’s POV*
“Maxine! Wake up! It’s time for school,” A woman on her 40’s, but has the same features of a 22 years old adult, shouted while knocking non stop on a wooden door.
“Maxine!” The woman shouted once more.
“Ugh mom, 5 more minutes,” murmured by the girl named Maxine as she pulls her blanket back to her head while her mother, finally opens her door and walk towards the bed.
“Come on dear, you have to go to school,” her mother said to her as she tried to pull Maxine’s blanket off her.
School huh? I don’t like that place. I was never welcomed there. Oh wait, I was. It was a very heart warming welcome party.
Maxine cringed at her own thoughts. She can clearly taste the sarcasm on each word.
“Mom, I don’t want to go to school,” Maxine whispered with a sad and unwilling voice. Her mother sighed and sit on top of her bed so she remove her blanket on her head while keeping the rest of her body underneath the blanket, showing her sad expression.
“I know dear, but, this is the only treasure we can give to you as a gift,” her mother said while caressing her hair.
“But mom, what about the bullies? I don’t want to go home with another black eye,” Maxine said with teary eyes. She remembered it, all of her previous days being in the Universidad de Vampiros (University for Vampires.) Everyone in her school hates her, especially the royal bloods and she knows that it all started during her first day in collage.
*Flashback*
She was a newbie, so she clearly has no idea how the rules worked. During that time, after getting her schedule on the Principal’s office, Maxine noticed a group of students watching something so she squeezed herself into the crowd, wanting to know what’s going on but what she saw was a very horrible scene. A female blonde student, wearing their uniform with short skirt, a golden cord and an ID, a knee high leather boots with a five inches heels, was throwing eggs and flour on a poor nerdy girl, the girl is also wearing the university’s uniform and a skirt upto her knees and an old ragged shoes. Her ID cord is colored black, a sign that the girl is also from Class D. Maxine, being a girl who doesn’t like seeing others to suffer, jump into the mess and helped the girl from Class D.
“Stop! Everyone stop!” She keeps shouting until everyone was quiet.
“Who the hell are you!? How dare you interrupt me!?” The woman, wearing the short skirt, asked angrily.
“Can’t you see she’s hurt!? Why are you even bullying her!?” Maxine asked the girl which shook everyone else except Maxine.
“What!?” Maxine asked.
“W-What are you doing? You’ll get in trouble too,” the nerdy girl said, her voice trembling out of fear while she keeps on crying.
“Don’t worry, we’ll tell the principal about this!” Maxine said and helped the nerdy girl stand but before she could even grab the poor girl, someone pulled Maxine’s hair and smash her head on the wall.
“Ouch!” Maxine complained.
“Guess what, everyone!?” The blondie asked.
“We have a new toy!!!” The blondie announced as everyone else cheered and shouted happily and ever since then, Maxine has been the target of bullying.
*End of Flashback*
“Don’t worry dear, today will be a new day, they won’t harm you anymore,” her mother said and hugged her.
“Mom, you said the same thing yesterday and I ended up walking home with a broken finger,” Maxine said while looking at the broken index finger on her left hand that has been covered with a bandage together with her middle finger to avoid any unnecessary movements. Her mother looked at it too, feeling sorry for her daughter’s hardships everyday at school.
“I’m sorry,” her mother said and burst into tears as Maxine hugged her tightly, trying to comfort her own mother.
“I’m sorry you have to experience this kind of treatment just beacause we’re on the lowest rank,” her mother whispered to her and kiss her on the top of her head.
“Mom, don’t be sorry, it was also my fault,” Maxine said.
“Hey mom maybe I can just quit studying and help you and dad on the rice fields,” Maxine presented but her mother refused.
“No, you have to finish studying so that you can raise your rank in the future,” her mother said while wiping her own tears.
“Come on. Take a bath and eat your breakfast downstairs, or else you’ll be late for school again,” Maxine’s mother said, firmly, and started walking out of her room.
“Mom,” Maxine called out her mother before she left her room.
“Yes dear?” Her mother asked, looking back at her.
“I love you,” Maxine said while smiling to her mother.
“I love you too Maxine, you’re our only treasure,” her mother said, smiling to her and walks out of her room. Maxine took a deep breath before getting up and fixing her bed sheets and blankets on her old, creaking bed. She quickly grab her towel and went straight to her bathroom, she remove her clothes while using her hands, making sure that her injured finger won’t be touched or else she’ll feel another wave of pain. While taking a bath, she carefully wash her hair with only one hand since her other hand has an injured finger and she doesn’t want it to get wet.
After a quick but very careful bath, she quickly changed her clothes and went straight to their dining room where her father is also having his meal.
“Good morning Dad,” Maxine greeted her father and kiss him on his cheek.
“Good morning too, you’re going to be late,” Maxine’s father beamed at her while looking at their old wall clock where it strikes at exactly 8:30 in the evening.
“Yes Dad, I know,” Maxine replied and quickly finish her sandwich and her hot chocolate.
“I’ll go ahead,” Maxine said and grab her black and plain backpack.
“Take care dear!” Her parents shouted at her as she wave her hand at them, bidding goodbye while smiling.
