One: ★Welcome to hell★
GEMMA ROSE
The blaring siren filled the street as she watched her father's lifeless body get carried away in an ambulance.
Some said he was killed because he tried to face off with the worst goons, some said he made a deal with them and failed to pay up while others said he was caught having s*x with the top goon's chick. In a nutshell, he died because of his reckless behavior.
Either way, all were rumors, none which Gemma believed to be true.
Chris Rose had been reported missing four days ago by Gemma and the authorities had searched effortlessly for him.
Finally he was found, except his life had been taken. His body had already stiffened, revealing he had probably been dead four days ago when he didn't return home.
His stomach was swollen and his body had an unbearable stench and was cold as ice.
Just like the last night Gemma had seen him, he was without a scar which meant the cause of death was internal, poisoned or strangled probably but only an autopsy would tell.
Gemma believed her dad died a hero. Yes he was a drunkard, a nuisance even, but he did all in his power to provide for his only daughter, even dirty works.
So maybe he was murdered by drug sellers or goons for not paying up or something but things were hard enough for their family and it only got worse after her mother divorced him to be with a multi billionaire.
Seeing his wife on the news as the latest bride of multi billionaire, Dave Carter.
Chris' pride didn't allow him to collect as much as a dime from his wife, Cynthia, and Gemma decided to follow his choice.
She blamed her mother for her dad's wretchedness and upon his death, was given another reason to hate her mother.
She sat on the cold gravel floor emotionlessly but tears flowed down her cheeks.
"Poor thing, I feel so bad for her." A passerby said to his second as they watched Gemma break down.
"She really loved her old man, but at least she will now get to enjoy the life he didn't allow her once she moves in with her rich mother and step dad."
The blaring became faint until it faded completely. Her mother crouched down next to her and wrapped her in a hug.
She wanted to push her away and tell her how much she hated her but she didn't even feel the need to, was there a reason to life itself? She thought to herself.
Vanity upon vanity.

As much as she hated the fact she had to leave home, she agreed to moving in with her mom and step dad.
The taxi stopped in front of a gigantic mansion. She alighted the vehicle, stopped and stared at her new home. 'I think I am making a mistake here,' she thought to herself. But it was too late to run away.
The taxi driver helped her unload her bags from the vehicle before driving off.
One phone call and her mother was already there with some helpers to carry her bags.
"Thank you for accepting my offer." Cynthia smiled as she walked hand in hand with her daughter.
Gemma only forced a smile in response.
"Your dad is so excited to meet you--"
"Step dad, mum." She corrected.
Cynthia smiled. "I am so sorry for my mistake, step dad. He hopes to impress you but your step brother isn't home right now, he's at school."
"He lives on campus?"
"Sometimes, he doesn't have a fixed place actually. He goes to imperial blue bloods just like you." She nudged her daughter with her shoulder.
Gemma nodded silently.
"You know I am sorry about your dad, I know you loved him so much."
"More than my own life." Gemma stated as tears welled up in her eyes.
Cynthia nodded with a smile. "I tried to make your room just the way you always liked it."
"A lot has changed since you left us."
Cynthia looked at her daughter, opening her mouth to speak but found no words to comprehend the situation.
Gemma was being cold towards her, not that she hadn't expected it but she thought all her preparation to make Gemma feel at home would help but it changed nothing.
It would be very hard to make her daughter fall in love with her again and she knew it.
As the doors pushed open, a neatly dressed man greeted them with a warm smile. "Gemma, it is nice to have you here. I am--"
"Dave Carter, I know." Gemma cut him off.
"Well yes, like I said earlier, it is nice to have you here." He stretched his hand forward to shake her but it was met by Gemma's cold glare.
Clearing his throat loudly, he smiled. "Come in please! The uh… helpers will drop your things off in your room. Do you-- do you want to join us for breakfast?"
"It's lunch time honey and yes she will right?" Cynthia patted Dave's shoulder while staring at Gemma for a response.
Gemma wanted to decline rudely, she didn't know Dave but hated him more than she did to her mother. But she was starving, the past five days had been the worst of her life and she hardly ate, she was at a loss of appetite.
At the moment, she was beyond starved. She nodded positively in response.
"Great! Come join us at the table." Cynthia pulled her by the wrist.
"Your mom made this herself, specially for you." Dave added.
She followed silently to the table and sat down. While she was growing up, she loved pancakes and maple syrup and her mother wanted to remind her that she didn't forget her.
The dish was specially decorated with fresh blueberries and strawberries, more than enough for the small amount of pancake.
"I don't eat pancakes anymore." Gemma stated.
The smile on Cynthia's face disappeared. "Oh! I am uh… I didn't know."
"It's not like I can't have it but dad didn't really like them so I stopped eating them all together." Gemma explained. "I think I should at least respect him by not eating it."
"Right of course." Cynthia packed up the dish and started towards the kitchen.
"But…" she was starving and desperately missed pancakes. He was dead anyway so she could at least do that much. "I'll have it because you made it."
Cynthia's face lit up ecstatically as she rushed back to drop the food on the table.
Gemma stabbed it with her fork and took out a piece. The moment she chewed on it, a sad tear rolled down her face. Upon the second bite, she found it hard to hold back her tears.
Cynthia wiped off the tear drop that rolled down her face as she watched her daughter's pathetic reaction. She blinked back her tears as she raised her hand to place it on her daughter's shoulder but froze midway on the realization that it would be of no use.
"It's great." Gemma forced a smile through her shattered emotions.
Cynthia chuckled in response with a nod.

The bedroom was no differ to that of a princess'. She studied the details of the room, her framed pictures right from when she was a little girl up until she was grown decorated the walls alongside that of her mother's.
"Where is dad's picture?" She questioned her mother.
"Oh uhm, the delivery was delayed so uhm… I asked them to frame it too."
"Okay. When it's ready please have it at my doorstep."
"Of course. I'll uh… leave you to settle in." Cynthia stuttered.
"Bye." She responded as she sat on the most comforting bed ever.
"Your brother is back and he is excited to meet you though."
"I really don't want to do this dad! I don't even need a step sister!" A masculine voice yelled from the hall.
"Really?" Gemma raised her brow.
"He uh-- he's shy."
The door pushed open and a face she had never expected walked in. Her eyes grew wider in shock as their gaze met.
His lips curved into a wicked grin. "Welcome to hell little sister."
