She looked around the room again, her frightened eyes darting over every surface in the room. There wasn’t much she could actually see since the lights were off in the room and it was the middle of the night. But she could still make out the bed, the chest of drawers, and the bathroom room with the help of the light that streamed in through space under the door from the hallway and the moonlight through the window. That, however, left too much of the room in dark shadows. She stared into those dark shadows, expecting the beast in her nightmare to jump out any second and attack her. It probably didn’t help that she remembered the beast had been large and blank and there were too many dark areas in the room. She didn’t need that combination for her imagination.
