Kiara stood alone in her room, staring at the red box Alpha Daniel had given her.
It sat quietly on the bed, innocent in appearance, yet her heart refused to calm down. Her palms were damp, and her chest felt tight, as if the box itself carried a weight heavier than it looked.
“So this is how it begins,” she whispered.
Aria stirred inside her mind, alert and curious.
“You’re nervous,” her wolf said.
“That’s good. It means you care.”
“I don’t care,” Kiara replied quickly. “This is just part of the plan.”
Aria laughed softly.
“Lie to yourself if you want. Your heart knows better.”
Kiara shook her head and slowly opened the box.
Inside was a dress.
The fabric was deep blue, almost black, shimmering softly like the night sky. Silver threads traced delicate patterns along the edges, glowing faintly as if touched by moonlight. It wasn’t flashy or revealing, yet it carried quiet power—elegant, commanding, and unmistakably Alpha-worthy.
For a long moment, Kiara simply stared.
“I’ve never worn something like this,” she whispered.
“In your old life, they didn’t let you,” Aria replied gently.
“In this life, you choose.”
Memories surfaced without warning.
Standing at the back of the hall during pack gatherings. Wearing plain clothes. Being ignored. Being told she didn’t belong at the Alpha’s side.
Her fingers clenched.
“That life is over,” Kiara said firmly.
She changed slowly, carefully, as though afraid the moment might break if she rushed it. When she finally stood before the mirror, she froze.
The woman staring back at her was unfamiliar.
Her eyes were sharper. Her posture straighter. The quiet pain that once defined her was gone—replaced by calm fire.
“This is who I could have been,” Kiara murmured.
“No,” Aria corrected softly.
“This is who you were always meant to be.”
Alpha Daniel was already waiting outside when she stepped out.
The moment he turned and saw her, he paused.
Not dramatically. Not obviously.
But he paused.
His gaze moved over her slowly, thoughtfully, as if reassessing something he thought he already understood.
“You look… appropriate,” he said.
Kiara raised an eyebrow. “Appropriate?”
“For what’s coming,” he replied calmly.
She exhaled slowly. “This is still a fake date, right?”
“Yes,” he said as they began walking. “But the world doesn’t need to know that.”
They walked through the Silvercrest Pack under the fading light of evening. Wolves stopped what they were doing to watch them pass. Some bowed. Others whispered. Curiosity filled the air.
“That’s her…”
“The one Alpha Daniel chose…”
“She doesn’t look like an Omega…”
Kiara heard everything.
Her shoulders tensed, but Alpha Daniel spoke quietly, without turning his head.
“Walk like you belong,” he said.
“They will believe what you show them.”
She lifted her chin and matched his stride.
The terrace they arrived at overlooked a steep cliff, the moon hanging low and full in the sky. Lanterns glowed softly around a simple table set for two. The wind carried the scent of pine and night flowers.
“This is unnecessary,” Kiara said as they sat.
“No,” Alpha Daniel replied. “It’s deliberate.”
They ate slowly, quietly at first. Kiara expected awkwardness, but instead there was calm. Too calm.
“You’re wondering why I’m really helping you,” Alpha Daniel said suddenly.
She looked up. “Yes.”
He leaned back slightly. “Alpha Leon and I were never friends.”
Kiara stiffened.
“We trained together once,” he continued. “Different packs. Different beliefs.”
“What happened?” she asked.
“He chose dominance over balance,” Alpha Daniel said. “Fear over loyalty.”
Kiara swallowed. “He rejected me because I was weak.”
“No,” Alpha Daniel corrected firmly. “He rejected you because your strength frightened him.”
Her breath caught.
“When he cast you aside publicly,” Daniel continued, “he broke something sacred. The Moon Goddess does not forgive that easily.”
Aria growled softly.
“He speaks truth.”
Kiara looked down at her hands. “So this is revenge for both of us?”
“Yes,” Daniel said. “But not reckless revenge.”
She frowned. “Then what is this really?”
He met her gaze. “Training.”
She blinked. “Training?”
“Emotional training,” he said. “Your strength is already dangerous. But without emotional control, it will destroy you.”
Kiara’s chest tightened. “My emotions killed me once.”
“And now,” Daniel said calmly, “they will save you—if you master them.”
Silence fell again, heavier this time.
Then—
Pain exploded in Kiara’s chest.
She gasped sharply, gripping the edge of the table. Her vision blurred, and her heartbeat slammed wildly.
“Kiara,” Alpha Daniel said sharply, rising. “What is it?”
Aria snarled inside her mind.
“He felt us.”
“Who?” Kiara whispered, breathless.
“Our mate,” Aria said darkly.
“Alpha Leon.”
Kiara’s body trembled. “He knows I’m alive?”
“Not yet,” Aria replied.
“But the bond has stirred.”
Far away, at Crescent Claw Pack—
Alpha Leon froze mid-step.
A sharp pain pierced his chest, stealing his breath. His wolf roared inside him, restless and confused.
“What is this?” Leon muttered.
The air carried a scent—faint, familiar, impossible.
“No,” he whispered. “She’s dead.”
But his wolf growled.
“Kiara.”
Back at Silvercrest, Kiara steadied herself slowly.
Alpha Daniel watched her closely. “That,” he said quietly, “was the bond.”
Kiara nodded, fear and determination battling inside her. “Then he’ll feel me again.”
“Yes,” Daniel said. “And next time, it will be stronger.”
She looked up at the moon, her heart pounding.
“Good,” she whispered. “Let him feel it.”
Aria’s voice was fierce and proud.
“This time, we do not beg. We do not fall.”
Alpha Daniel’s gaze hardened. “Then prepare yourself.”
Kiara nodded.
