Same as Usual
The cold air seems to playfully nip at my neck, taunting me with the light kisses of cold that it’s placing all over my body. I cling to my jacket even more and speed walk down the block. Seems like I walk this path so much that my heels have actually marked a trail into the cement. How f*cking tragic is that?
“Watch where the hell your going!!!”
I come to a sudden stop as an angry taxi driver turns the corner sharply, nearly hitting me in the process.
“Up yours!” I scream back flipping him off
Ugh I really hated this side of Brooklyn. New York is a pretty place but everything nice has an ugly side to it. Remember that. I know I’ve seen it first hand with both places and people so trust me when I say to always be weary no matter how good something may seem. I continue my walk until I see the glowing of that ever so familiar pink and green neon sign. I approach the tall building and instantly the bouncers move aside to let me in. I speed up and practically run when I hear a bell ringing from the inside. To some people the bell might be weird or random, but to me and my co-workers it meant one thing: Money and lots of it.
“b***h where have you been?! You know how Sammy gets when one of his best girls don’t show up on time!” Crystal blurts out as soon as she sees me. I loved the girl to death. We’ve been friends since high school and were practically sisters. We did everything together so us working together wasn’t really a surprise either. I just wished we had a better life.
“I was getting the locks changed in my apartment and had to wait for the guy to finish. Liam won’t give me the damn keys back! He’s getting on my last nerve” I spit out. Liam being my horrible ex boyfriend that I finally broke up with. If the devil had a son, I’m sure he would be him.
“He’s still trying to get back with you? He’s delusional so thank the heavens you got over him” Crystal says as she hugs me. She knows what I’ve been through and she’s been my rock in hard times. I was thankful for that.
“Anyway girl, you heard the bell right? There’s a few basketball players and that famous comedian Kevin Hart that’s in here tonight. Time to make that money before they end up leaving, you know they always throw hundreds baby”
“Yeah, yeah I’m coming” I respond as I wait by the curtain on stage. I was next and waited for my cue before my song began playing and I strutted sexually on to the main stage. The curtain opened and the light shined on me as I walked to the pole up ahead. When I reached it, I did a little twirl then jumped up and grabbed it in midair. The men screamed and cheered as I performed and danced. I rocked my body back and forth before I proceed to slowly take my thong off, teasing them with the strings before I pull it and the little black lace completely comes undone. I stand in front of the pole then grab it with the hand above my head as I take off the matching bra that goes with it. Completely exposed, I grind my ass on the pole behind me and go down to the floor as I take a shower in all the money being thrown at me. Being a stripper isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but it pays the bills and I’ve been through enough trauma in my life to handle it.
