Maybe crazy, but mine

***Zabella POV*** I was sitting on my couch with a book waiting to shift and be a nuisance, when I heard raised voices, even though I couldn't make out what anyone was saying, so I went to the intercom. My wolf, Lyra, had been freaking out for over an hour, but I figured it was just the full moon and ignored her like usual. We weren't on good terms anymore since she killed my brother, and we rarely spoke, she was crazy. I was good at blocking her out at this point, she was a menace. I rang Adam to check on him and he told me I had a visitor. A visitor? I panicked. Who the hell would visit me? I couldn't see anyone. I made up an excuse and pushed the button. "I'm sorry whoever you are, please come back tomorrow when it's safer, I'm already locked away for the night. Thank you." I put my hand over my mouth and walked away, when suddenly the intercom came through again and the most captivating voice I've ever heard rang through, "Please madam, My name is Kaid Swift, may I just see you. Please come to the window. Please." He sounded desperate, and I felt compelled to reply, but I was scared. I swallowed my fear, my curiosity of what he looked like getting the better of me. I peeked from behind the curtain and the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen was on the other side. He had dirty blonde hair past his shoulders but pulled up in a pony tail, and he had green eyes like emeralds. His jaw line was chiseled and perfect and from what I could see, he was taller than 6'6" and looked like he was a Greek God sculpted from marble. Our eyes locked and I could hear Lyra clearly, "Mate!" She screamed. We shared a moment before she ruined everything, "Give him to me! Give me our mate!!" No. Not now. Dammit Lyra. I felt her start to take hold, and at this point I was too weak to hold her back. I backed away from the window, disappearing behind the curtain again as Lyra took over and I shifted. f**k. ***Kaid POV *** She suddenly disappeared from the window, and I heard a small scream. Suddenly a ragged black wolf with white face markings slammed against the window, attacking wildly, trying to get out. The guard, Adam I think she said his name was, started to panic. He got to the intercom, "Lyra!" He called. She went away from the window, "Lyra! Listen to me! Don't hurt Zabella! Please! I'll open the door in the morning, just don't hurt her!" He begged. I didn't understand. "My mate is locked in with this crazy wolf?" I shouted. He looked at me saddened, "She IS the wolf." Suddenly there was scratching at the door. I could hear the whimpering as she tried to claw her way out. "I have to get in there!" Adam looked at me and shook his head. "There's no way in until the auto lock engages. The bars on the window are silver coated. The walls are three feet thick of stone." He looked sad and defeated. I was in a panic. Suddenly I heard a loud thud, followed by a yip. "What is she doing?" I asked. "She's probably broken all of her claws and burned her paws, and now she's throwing herself against the door. She'll be covered in broken bones and burns from the silver. If she makes it through the night." The sun was just beginning to set. Another thud and yelp. I flinched at every one. Feeling her pain. Adam sat with his back against the door looking hopelessly over the garden, only flinching when she'd yelp, not when she'd hit the door. He cared for her, but she was mine. I mindlinked James to meet me there with my Kevlar blanket. Fire dart was a handy hobby and reason to carry one, and would protect me from the silver. I couldn't take it anymore. She was literally killing herself in front of me trying to get to me. She must have hit the door a dozen times, breaking more and more bones each time. He brought my safety blanket and I quickly climbed up to the window on the second floor. It was small, but I should be able to fit though it if I could get the bars off. I wrapped the blanket around the bars and pulled with all my strength. They barely moved. "James get up here." And in a moment he was beside me, pulling like his life depended on it. Damn I loved my beta. Unquestionable loyalty. We heard another loud thud, this time the yelp was different, more pained than the others, and it went quiet. Suddenly I felt the anchors start to rip through the cement, and we threw the bars to the ground below. I broke the glass and started to climb through, James caught me before I went in. "Alpha, I know she's your mate, but be careful." Loyalty. Unquestioning loyalty. He helped me through the small window, it was a tight squeeze through the glass. I was in a small loft with stairs down. I quickly jumped from it and saw my mate, in wolf form, crumpled on the ground. I took her into my arms and she shifted immediately. Her broken human form was painful to look at. She was covered in bruises that darkened as I looked at her. Her hands were broken and burned, bleeding from her fingers. She had burns all over her body, and gashes as well. I held her and wept. She needed medical attention but there was no way I could get her out the window. I wrapped her naked body in a blanket and laid her in her bed. She started to stir and as soon as she locked eyes on me she looked horrified. "You have to get out. Please! Please." She begged, her body too broken to do more than cling to my shirt front. "Please! Reject me so this can be over. Don't burden yourself with me. Please!" She begged deliriously as she passed back out again. Reject her? Was she crazy? Okay maybe a little, but I'd been searching for her my whole life too, there was no way my beautiful queen was going to get away from me, crazed wolf or not. Instead I climbed into bed with her and held her close to me. I mind linked James to attend the meeting in my place, and settled in. Her breathing was shallow. I didn't know if she would make the night, so I held her, breathing in her delicious scent of wild honey and fresh blackberries for possibly the last time. The idea crushed me. She had to live.
