Cordelia Gomez had been dating her blind boyfriend, Adrian Faulkner, for five whole years. Yet she was the very last person in the entire city to find out he was suddenly getting married.

And the worst part? The woman he planned to marry was Beatrice Watson—the mastermind behind the murder of her parents.

Even after hearing the news, Cordelia didn't cry or throw a fit. All she wanted was to get back the only keepsake her mom and dad had left behind.

But to celebrate Beatrice's pregnancy, Adrian casually handed that last memento over to her without a second thought.

His face stayed blank as he told her, “Cordelia, this is what we owe Beatrice. You've got no right to call her a murderer. Got any proof?”

When Cordelia finally laid the evidence right in front of him, Adrian dropped to his knees like a madman and begged her not to leave.

Chapter 1 The Betrayal
Cordelia Gomez stormed into the private custom bridal boutique to find her blind boyfriend, Adrian Faulkner, pinning a girl in a wedding dress against the fitting-room mirror. His big hand had slipped right through the zipper, and the girl was letting out soft, breathy little moans. "Adrian... what are you..." The same Adrian who had been pressed up behind her in bed last night, fumbling around and whispering, "Is it right here?" was now staring at Beatrice's lips like he was hypnotized, his Adam's apple bobbing hard. "You look so gorgeous in that dress... I couldn't help myself." He didn't look blind at all. Cordelia let out a cold laugh, kicked the boutique door wide open, and charged straight at the screaming Beatrice Watson with a pair of scissors in her hand. She slashed the ridiculous wedding dress to ribbons and kept going until the everyday clothes hanging in the fitting room were nothing but scraps, too. "Cordelia!" Adrian finally snapped out of it. He grabbed her wrist and flung her aside, then yanked off his suit jacket to wrap it around the now-naked, sobbing Beatrice. He shot Cordelia a murderous glare. "What the f**k is your problem this time? Apologize to her right now!" For the past five years, Cordelia had imagined a thousand different versions of the moment he finally got his sight back and looked at her—gratitude, tenderness, that deep, endless longing. She had never once pictured this icy disgust. Her heart clenched hard for a second. Cordelia gave a short, bitter scoff. "So you're dropping the act now?" Adrian's eyes darkened. "Beatrice's legs are completely wrecked. She wants a real wedding, and she needs a groom who can actually stand on his own two feet." A sour wave of bitterness rose in her chest. So all the doctors she had searched for across the country, all the prayers she had whispered, hoping he would regain his sight... none of it meant as much as a single word from Beatrice. Cordelia fought back the sting in her nose. "If you're really going to marry this murderer, then hand over my parents' company. We're finished." Adrian casually flicked open a lighter and lit a cigarette. He gave a low chuckle. "Finished? Come on, is it that serious? This wedding is just for appearances. I promised your parents I'd take care of you for the rest of my life, and I'll still make you my wife. You already have the title. Why do you keep pushing me like this and bad-mouthing Beatrice, calling her a killer?" His gaze turned ice-cold. "That car crash was just shitty luck for your folks. You keep saying Beatrice is a murderer—got any proof? You're not a little kid anymore. Haven't you thrown enough tantrums?" Enough? She would never get enough, not in this lifetime. Back then, everyone had called Cordelia Gomez—the future heir to the Gomez Group—a complete headcase. The only person who could ever handle her was Adrian. Ten years ago, on the very first day her parents brought Adrian home from a pile of corpses, some troublemaking subordinates had cornered him and started threatening him. Cordelia picked up a steel pipe and smashed it over one of their heads, driving them off and getting him out of trouble. When she met the boy's bright eyes, she had actually blushed for the first time in her life. "From now on, I've got your back." Five years ago, after their old rivals murdered her parents, Adrian had fought for three straight days and nights. He lost his sight doing it, but he saved the company that her parents had poured their whole lives into. He had pulled her into his arms, kissed her hard, and carved her name into his own chest with a knife. "Cordelia, we only have each other now. The only thing that'll ever separate us is death." She had been his eyes for five years, yet when news of Adrian's wedding came out, she was the last person in the entire city to find out. And the woman he planned to marry was the one who had killed her parents. Because of that crash, her mom and dad were still being dragged through the mud. Their graves had been smashed, their ashes dug up. Everyone believed her parents were the villains, that they had ruined Beatrice's life, and that they had gotten exactly what they deserved.
