CHAPTER 30 BROKEN PROMISE The next morning, Elena extended her legs against the cage and pushed with all her might. She kicked the door with its padlocked key, but it wouldn’t budge. Several more kicks left her puffing. It was no use. She couldn’t get out of the cage. It was too tightly locked. She rubbed the side of her neck, feeling the cricks, and exhaled. Her whole body was stiff, and a migraine pressed hard against her eyes and head. She was helpless and weak and would never get out of here.
