CHAPTER 31 AN ILLUSION OF FUTILITY Francesco sighed as he steered onto Elena’s street. Loredana sat in the passenger seat and Isabella settled behind Loredana in the back seat. They both looked stricken, their eyes black and weepy from missing Elena. Francesco hadn’t slept in the past two days, since Elena went missing, and now he wanted to make sure she hadn’t returned home without telling them. He had spoken to Angelo but that was a dead end.
