CHAPTER 8 THE FIRST DAY Elena walked through the glass doors of the fashion institute after wiping her shoes across the mat. It was October and two weeks had already gone by for her first day of learning. The tiled flooring of Istituto Marangoni was immaculate and the structure very linear and solid as she observed the walkway. Gigantic displays of models dressed in luxurious clothing lined the walls with an array of light fixtures hanging down from the ceiling. Elena approached reception and was welcomed with a genuine grin. The woman had dimples on her face, which was covered in freckles.
