Chapter 15

860 Words
The silence lingered for a few more seconds until Mr Amirion slowly turned to Cody "Take them to the villa"Mr Amirion ordered, Cody hesitated for a brief moment. His eyes instinctively moved to Chloe before lowering his head. "Yes sir" Chloe looked at Mr Amirion, unable to hide the disappointment in her eyes. She wasn't upset about staying in a villa, she was hurt that he hadn't argued. That he had simply accepted it. Mrs Gabriella's gently squeezed Chloe's hand as if to tell her not to make things worse. "It's alright dear"Mrs Hampson said smiling to make Chloe feel better "We'll be fine" Chloe forced a smile. "I'm really sorry mom" Her mom blinked at her telling her it was okay. Hilary tugged at her sleeve. "Are we leaving because we did something bad?" Chloe immediately knelt in front of him and gently held both his hands "No baby, you guys are moving to a bigger and better place"Chloe paused "You didn't do anything wrong" "Then why doesn't that grandma like us" Hilary's innocent question made the room even quieter, Mrs Gabriella simply looked away as though the child hadn't spoken. Chloe smiled softly despite the ache in her chest. "Some people just need time to realize no condition you find a person is is permanent" Chloe said looking at Mrs Gabriella as she spoke. Hilary nodded even though she clearly didn't understand, Mrs Hampson sighed quietly. "Come on children" "We should get going" The three girls hurried upstairs to gather the few things they had brought while Fredrick reluctantly followed his mother. Chloe remained standing where she was, she could still feel Mrs Gabriella's eyes on her. "You should consider yourself lucky" Mrs Gabriella finally spoke. "Most women would never even get the chance to step into this family, I don't know how he met you or what kind of spell you used on him but I promise you it will break soon" Chloe slowly lifted her head. "I'm grateful for everything Mr Amirion has done for my family and I didn't cast a spell on him, I am not into witchcraft or voodoo"Chloe's voice was calm the whole time she spoke. "And we never asked to be treated like a burden" For the first time, Mrs Gabriella looked slightly surprised, then she gave a faint smile. "So you do have a little pride" "I do because I know I will be a far better woman than I am today"Chloe said with confidence. Mrs Gabriella rolled her eyes but said nothing. Before she could reply, footsteps echoed from the staircase. The children had returned carrying small bags while Mrs Hampson followed behind them. Cody stepped forward. "The car is ready" Fredrick, Hilary, Sarah and Victoria walked over to Chloe and hugged her tightly. "You're coming with us right?" Chloe scratched her neck "I'll come and see you every day" "You promise" "I promise" Only after hearing that did her siblings let go, Mrs Hampson looked at Chloe with worried eyes. "Take care of yourself"Mrs Hampson kissed her forehead. "You too Mom" Without another word, Cody escorted them outside. The front door slowly closed behind them, the living room suddenly felt much larger, much colder. Chloe stood there silently, staring at the closed door, Mr Amirion glanced at her for a brief second but said nothing. Mrs Gabriella noticed everything. "You seem disappointed" She folded her arms. "Were you expecting him to choose your family over me?" Chloe slowly shook her head in disagreement "No" "I wasn't expecting anything, I never do he just does what he wants" She turned around. "If you'll excuse me" Without waiting for permission, Chloe quietly walked toward the staircase, she kept her back straight until she disappeared upstairs. The moment the bedroom door clicked shut, she leaned against it and closed her eyes. The tears she had been holding back finally escaped. She quickly wiped them away before anyone could see. "No"She whispered to herself. "I won't cry because of someone who doesn't even know anything about me" Downstairs, Mrs Gabriella calmly sat on one of the sofas and crossed her legs. "I still don't understand" "What exactly do you see in that girl?" Mr Amirion picked up the glass of water on the table and took a slow sip. "I don't have to explain my choices" "You do when your choices affect the Walter family" "They don't"He disagreed. "They already have"Mrs Gabriella replied. "You may not realize it now but that girl will become your biggest weakness" Mr Amirion placed the glass back on the table, his expression remained unreadable. "You've only been here for ten minutes and you've already made her cry" Mrs Gabriella paused. "So you noticed" "I notice everything" A small smile appeared on her lips. "Then perhaps you should also notice that she doesn't belong in your world" Mr Amirion looked directly into his mother's eyes. "And maybe it's time you accepted that this world is no longer yours to control, and remember what you said last ok... it's my world so I choose how I run it" He said and walked away leaving a shocked Mrs Gabriella.
