He was born into power. She was forged in fire. Love was never part of the plan.

Rob Kingston has everything—wealth, charm, and the perfect life mapped out by a father who never asked what he truly wanted. But the night he meets Sera Delgado, a fierce and untouchable gang leader with eyes full of secrets, everything changes.

Sera is a queen in her own world—dangerous, smart, and hunted by shadows. She doesn’t need a savior. Especially not one with soft hands and a heart that bleeds poetry.

But when their two worlds collide, sparks fly, loyalties are tested, and both are forced to choose between the lives they were born into—and the love that could cost them everything.

Steel and Silk is a gritty, emotional, and unforgettable story of forbidden love, redemption, and two hearts daring to defy the world.

Chapter 1 – The Perfect Son
The ballroom glittered like a glass cage—gold chandeliers hanging from vaulted ceilings, polished marble floors reflecting the glow of high society. Waiters in tuxedos floated by with silver trays, balancing champagne flutes and tiny hors d’oeuvres. Laughter rose in elegant waves, carefully measured and just loud enough to sound like generosity was fun. Rob Kingston adjusted the cuffs of his tailored navy suit, his father’s words echoing in his head. "Stand tall. Smile when needed. Say nothing unnecessary. You’re not here to enjoy yourself—you’re here to represent us." He smiled now, not because he wanted to, but because he knew the cameras were watching. His father stood across the room shaking hands with board members of Kingston Global, the family’s billion-dollar empire. Real estate, oil, political strings—you name it, his father owned a piece of it. Rob, on the other hand, owned nothing but his heart—and he’d learned early that it didn’t belong in this world. He shifted awkwardly beside the charity display table, adjusting the little sign that read "Urban Youth Rehabilitation Fund." Irony dripped from it like sweat on a hot day. None of the men in the room had ever set foot in the neighborhoods they claimed to uplift. He had, though. Quietly. Without cameras. His eyes wandered around the room until they landed on a woman entering from the side entrance. Not the grand staircase like the others. No spotlight. No announcement. She moved like a shadow, sleek black dress clinging to her curves like ink over steel. A tattoo curled around her forearm—a snake wrapped in thorns. Her long dark hair was tied back with a red silk ribbon, and her eyes… God, her eyes. They didn’t ask to be noticed. They dared you to look away. For a moment, Rob forgot his role. Forgot his smile. Forgot his father. He wasn’t the only one. Conversations slowed. Heads turned. But no one dared approach her. Not here. "Who is that?" he asked a nearby staffer quietly. The man leaned in. "That’s Sera Delgado. You don’t want to get involved, sir. She’s bad news." Rob’s heart beat faster, not from fear—but from something else. Something stupid and dangerous. She glanced his way. And in that electric second, the world outside the ballroom fell silent. Rob Kingston, the perfect son, heir to a flawless empire, took his first step off the golden path—and toward the girl the world had already condemned.
