Mr. and Ms. Arrogant

Attack on Revati

Revati was checking the code and the design of Luca’s Banking bot. She was impressed how he and his team created the bot that too in a short period, without any flaws so that she can’t intrude and collapse the  bot. She found a loophole and added the code in her prototype with little modifications. She sends this to the project manager who instantly approved the design and send it to the head office. The director of the project liked both the designs and decided to approve both the bots. When Luca knew Revati has submitted her prototype and it is also selected along with his, he was astonished. 

Revati went to her home next day. She had stayed at the office to complete her prototype and submit it before Luca’s prototype gets finalised. When she reached she saw the car which was following her was waiting some distance from her home. She called police and told about the car waiting outside. They told her not to get out of her car till they arrive. Revati was waiting for the police when she saw the car started and dashing away from there. Few minutes later the police came and she told them the car left there in a hurry only a few minutes ago. They noted the registration number of the car which Revati told them. She entered her home and lay down. She was exhausted due to lack of sleep and work load. She didn’t know when she drifted off on the couch. She was startled when she heard a sound in the kitchen. She opened the drawer of her side table and took the gun. She slowly moved to the kitchen and sneaked to see if there was anybody in the room. She saw a cat was sitting on the kitchen counter and sniffing for any leftovers to eat.

Revati was relieved to see the cat. Then she remembered, she hadn’t left any windows or door open when she left for the office. She checked all the rooms to see if anything was missing. For her surprise nothing was misplaced or missing. Then how did the window open and why is somebody following her. She called Paul and told him the whole incident.

Paul: “Chinnu I think you should shift from there to a safe place till the police finds who is after you and why.” Revati was not feeling well with the idea of leaving her home. She went to her room and took a shower in hot water. She felt relaxed and had lunch. 

One month later

The business awards were announced. Luca and his company were selected in almost all categories. Revati was nominee in two categories, best strategic design and outstanding personal achievement. Luca was also nominated in these categories. The award ceremony day arrived. Luca and his team were there at the venue. Revati didn’t attend the function because she wanted to keep her identity secret. If anyone from Dallas sees her they will know that she is Revati Miller daughter of David. The award ceremony started. Luca and his team bagged almost all the awards. The award for best strategic design was shared by Luca and Chinnu. Paul collected the award on behalf of Revati. When the Outstanding Personal achievement award was announced Luca was stunned. Revati got the award for the same. Paul collected that award too. Luca was feeling jealous. Chinnu bagged the awards for the categories she was nominated. If she gets nominated for more category next year, then Luca’s Itronix will slowly become part of history. He was feeling restless and was thinking how to eliminate the new problem called Chinnu Reddy. 

Chinnu was watching the ceremony on TV. She saw how Paul talked about her when he received the award. Suddenly she heard a noise from the kitchen. She slowly went to the kitchen and saw a guy. When she inquired he said he was feeling hungry. Revati had a doubt whether it was the same guy who followed her.

Revati: “If you were hungry, why didn’t you ring the doorbell.” The guy didn’t know what to say. He grabbed her arm and took her to the living room. Revati was struggling and trying to release her from his grip, but he was strong and experienced. He took a rope from his pocket and tied her arm behind her. Then he seat her on a chair and pointed a gun on her forehead.

Guy: “You have already waisted so much time of mine. Now I will ask you politely. Give me the letters and Flash drive your mother gave to you. I need this flash drive.” He showed her the picture of the flash drive which she got first time. Revati didn’t understand anything and she wondered how this guy knows about mumma gave her letters and flash drive. She told him to take her to the guest room. He took her there and she pretend to search for the file and pressed a button. Then she took a file in which she had kept the irrelevant letters of Geeta. She opened the drawer of her table, they heard the sirens of police car. The guy grabbed her hair and pointed the gun on her face

Guy: “How did the cops know about me. When did you call them. Now quick give me the Flash drive and take me outside the house without been caught.” Revati was scared and she gave him the flash drive. The guy took her outside on gunpoint. The police had surrounded her house but couldn’t do anything. Revati knew she had to do something fast. She suddenly poked in his eyes and freed her from his grip. Then she hit him in his private part. He was startled at first but he succeeded to shoot her. The bullet missed but made a deep cut on her right arm. The police tried to catch him but he escaped them. He was fast but was limping due to the pain in his groin. Two officers were near Revati and did first aid on her arm. They took her to hospital. Paul heard from the officer about Revati and he rushed to the hospital directly from the award function. Luca saw Paul going out in hurry. He sent Zack behind Paul. When Paul reached hospital he saw there was police officers outside Revati’s room. He went inside and saw Revati was sleeping. The nurse said they gave her sedative injection due to pain. 

Officer: “Hi, I am Rick. She is bold and handled the situation cleverly. It was her bad luck that she got hit by the bullet. Please inform us when she regains consciousness. She told the guy had taken some file and a flash drive. Then she fainted and we couldn’t know anything.”

Paul: “I am Paul, owner of Techtronic, she is CEO of my company. She was to be attending the award ceremony but preferred to stay home. That is why the attack on her happened. One month back someone broke into her house twice. We had registered complaint then. After that everything was quiet and nobody was following her or tried break into her home.”

Rick: “Does she have any enemies.”

Paul: “To my knowledge, there is none.”

Rick: “Ok, inform me when she wakes up.” Zack was outside the room and heard what Rick and Paul had said. He called Luca and told him that Revati was shot and is in hospital. Luca didn’t know why he felt bad when he knew Revati was hurt. He was burning in jealousy when she won Outstanding Personal Achievement award. But now he is feeling uncomfortable and sad when he knew she was shot. He wanted to go to her but stopped himself. He told Zack to stay there and keep an eye on Revati. Zack didn’t know what was happening to Luca. Never once he took interest in anybody and now Luca is interested in his rival.

When Revati woke up she saw she was in hospital and Paul was talking to someone in phone. She called Paul and he say Revati was awake he sat near her and called the nurse. She came and checked Revati’s vitals and said she is normal.

Paul: “What’s going on in your life. Last month somebody broke into your house and today that guy shot you. What are you hiding from us.”

Revati: “My mumma’s death was not an accident. She was murdered for something which I don’t know. She knew her life was in danger and prepared me letters and gave to Arjun uncle. The guy was after those letters and flash drive which mumma gave me first time. Only me and Arjun Uncle knows about the letters. Then how did this guy know about the letters. There is something big that I have no knowledge.” Right then Rick came.

Rick: “Hi, I’m Officer Rick who is investigating your case. Now tell me what was in the file and flash drive the person stole from you.”

Revati: “I lost my mumma 9 years ago in an accident. Later I knew it wasn’t an accident but a planned murder from her letters she had give to my uncle before she died. I have been trying to know who killed her and why but I have no clue. Only I and my uncle knows about these letters. This guy came yesterday and started to ask for the letter and flash drive I got first time.”

Rick: “So your name is Chinnu Reddy and you’re from India am I right. What’s your mother’s name and where did the accident occur in India or here.” Revati nodded yes. 

Revati: “My mumma’s name is Geeta. She died at Dallas 9years ago.” Suddenly Rick’s behaviour changed. He became more curious and asked

Rick: “Is your mother’s full name Geeta Miller who worked in Luca’s ranch as techie.” Revati was surprised to hear Rick saying her mumma’s original name and where she worked.

Revati: “How do you know about my mumma. I haven’t said this to anybody since I left Dallas. Yes she worked there.” Rick was shaking his head in disbelief and he called somebody.

Rick: “James, I met our Geeta’s daughter, she is here in Richmond.”Revati was watching Rick in amusement. She saw how he was talking like he knew Geeta very well. Rick came and sat near Revati.

Rick: “So you’re Revati Miller, daughter of my best friend. How come you are living alone and tell me about you.”

Revati: “First of all I want to know how you know my mumma.”

Rick: “Geeta, James and me were best friends while we were in college. She was a brilliant, jovial and kind girl. James had a crush on her but she never returned his interest and maintained a safe relationship between us. After we completed our graduation she got a job at New York. I got job in police department and James became an attorney. It was there she met your dad and married him. We were astounded when we knew she married David, who was a con artist. We tried to alert her and save her from the marriage but was too late. She was already pregnant and left to Dallas. Few years later I got a call from her saying she has some doubts in Mr. Livingston’s accident.  I contacted the Chief of the county and told him to send me the investigation report on Mr Livingston’s accident. I had my doubts in the investigation and informed Geeta to help me find what’s going on inside the ranch.

She agreed to be my inside informer to find what illegal activities are going on inside the ranch. We sent one of our intelligence officer for her help, Detective Janice. They were so close to find the culprit and illegal activities when the accident happened. There is someone in my department who helped the main culprits to escape from being caught and put the blame on Luca. One thing still bothers me is why Luca didn’t try to defend himself once.”

Revati now knew the reason behind Luca’s silence. He was feeling guilty for not saving Janice’s life. Revati was feeling bad for not trusting her mother’s words. Paul was in shock hearing all these. He looked at Revati. She knew what was going inside Paul’s mind.

Revati: “I didn’t come to the function because of my past. I had a feeling those who killed mumma will come after me. That’s why I changed my name and nationality. I am from Dallas and half Indian. My father was from Dallas that’s what I knew till now and now I don’t know who he is.” She started to cry. Paul hugged her and comforted her. Rick left the hospital and called someone 

Rick: “Don’t do anything stupid for sometime. I will try to gain her trust and when right time comes she will tell us everything, we want to know.” Now what problem is Revati going to face only time will say. Luca was walking restless in his office. He was thinking about Chinnu and the attack she had to face. He was starting to have doubts about her. He got a call from Zack and Luca’s eyes widened when he heard what Zack said.
