Chapter Twenty-Two

For the next several days the Alpha's left her alone and honestly it was a welcome change for her. She still had meals with them and spoke to them in the hallways but that was really it. Before she even realized it her heat had returned and she was taken away to have it dealt with during the week. She woke up in that same woman's care as before.
" OH good sweetheart you're awake" she said coming into the room with a tray of food and some pills.
" Um how did I get here?" Mae asked the older woman.
" I'm not sure who but one of the Alpha's injected you with a little bit of wolsbane to knock you out so you could be transferred here safely " the older woman told her.
Mae didn't mean to but she did roll her eyes " And be safely you mean without my heat tempting them?" she asked her and the older woman just nodded.
Mae sighed " Well that figures. It's for the best" she told the woman.
" Yes I'm sure you're quite tempting for them" the woman said giving Mae a smile.
" Not in the way you think" Mae told her.
" I don't believe that. You're absolutely gorgeous. They would have to be blind not to see it" she told Mae.
Mae was shocked she wasn't used to being complimented on how she looked. Only one time had it happened but she was in her heat so it definitely wasn't genuine.
" Thank you" was all Mae could say.
" You're welcome. Now make sure you take those pills before your symptoms pick up again" she told Mae.
" What's your name?" Mae asked her.
" Helen " was all she said before going to leave the bedroom.
" Helen why am I your job out of curiosity?" Mae asked her.
Helen sighed " I don't think I'm allowed to answer that Luna Mae. Maybe one day I can" she said as she closed the door behind her.
" I'm not the Luna" she tried to say as she quickly left the room.
Mae sighed and took the pills downing it with the water. The week flew by and Mae was back at the pack house. She opened the front door and quietly snuck inside and made her way upstairs to her room. When she opened the door the three of them were standing in her room waiting for her. Mae rolled her eyes and closed the bedroom door.
" How did it go?" Max asked her.
" Fine" she replied.
" We missed you" Kai told her.
" ok" was all she replied.
" What can we do to prove we missed you?" Kai asked.
Mae shrugged her shoulders " Nothing " was all she said.
Ace laughed " Pathetic" he muttered under his breath.
" I'm Pathetic? You guys are the ones in here waiting for me to come back" she said glaring at Ace.
" Wasn't my idea" Ace replied back to her.
She looked at Max who shook his head no. When she looked over at Kai he was smiling at her.
" What do you want?" she asked Kai.
" I told you we missed you. Just wanted to see you as soon as possible " he told her.
" That's nice" she replied.
" Stop wasting your time on her Kai. All she's done is continue to prove she isn't worth it" Ace told his brother.
" Yes please do" she told them as she went to take her shoes off.
" Is that really what you want? Have we hurt you that badly that you don't want anything to do with us?" Kai asked her.
" You're kidding right?" she asked him as he looked back at her dead serious.
" Yes I don't want anything to do with any of you. I thought I made myself clear last week" she told him.
" Wish granted princess" Ace spoke Rolling his eyes as he walked by her.
He glanced at her and without warning punched her in the jaw. Kai came quickly pulling Ace away from her and placing himself between the two of them.
" You're an asshole Ace. Just walk away" Kai told his older brother.
Ace smirked " That's for talking back to your Alpha's. Just because you want nothing to do with us doesn't mean I will listen" he said as he left her bedroom.
Max didn't say anything but left the room.
" Are you alright?" Kai asked turning around to look at her.
" I didn't need your help" she told him as she held onto her cheek.
" If you say so" he said as he also left her room closing the door behind him.
