Taken
It was dark and cold. Even with my eyes open, I could not see. My body shivered, as I lay there in the darkness. My wrists were bound to my ankles in chains, not enough to cripple my body, but clearly enough to stop me from running. My mouth had been taped shut.
I don’t exactly know how I got here, or what I have been through. I remember being tucked up in my bed, fast asleep. Awaiting my birthday in the morning when I finally turn eighteen and shift for the first time.
Instead, I am here. Frightened and alone with no way of knowing where I am. Except of course, for the sound and vibrations of the engine. All I could tell was that I was in a car, more than likely the trunk of the car. I don’t know how long I have been here, but my head hurts pretty bad. I could smell the Iron in the air, so I was almost certain that I was bleeding.
Eventually, the sound of screeching tires could be heard. It forced my body to hit the back of the trunk with a thud. I closed my eyes for a moment, bracing myself for whatever was to come. The sound of the door slamming made me jump slightly.
Pull it together, I thought. I know that I am young, but I have never been weak, and when these fuckers find out who they’re dealing with, they will return me back home for sure. I am the daughter of Alpha Atticus. The most notorious Alpha in the country.
“Maybe they need money?” My wolf sleepily commented in my head. You couldn’t see my eyes, but I was surely rolling them at her.
“They will get what is coming to them.” I retorted in my mind.
I listened carefully to the sound of footsteps walking around the car towards the trunk. Waiting patiently to see my captors face. When the boot opened, I didn’t hide my disappointment in knowing that his face was covered in a black ski mask. The only thing visible was his eyes and I focused on them entirely, taking in their deep blue colour and tinted green flecks.
I vowed not to forget his eyes. I will find him when this is all over and I will kill him. My father may have held all the titles, but, being raised in his pack with my own titles meant that I was trained. Just like an assassin of the pack. The big question was, how did they get to me?
I watched carefully as he reached into the trunk towards me, grasping onto my arm tightly to rip me out of the trunk onto my feet. I hadn’t noticed it before, but as soon as my feet firmly planted in snow, I was certain that I was a long way from home. Small tints of doubt planted in my mind of a rescue mission from that point alone. If I had to get myself back home, I was sure I would do it. I worked hard to push any fear in me deep down into the darkest points of my soul. I wasn’t going to show any signs of it, despite the situation.
“Walk.” He instructed, pointing towards a vast snowy pit of nothingness.
He spoke with an accent that I was unfamiliar with, and his voice was incredibly rough. The kind that smoked a few packets of cigarettes a day. I looked out over the open land, nothing but snow could be seen for miles. His hand reaching out towards me again caused an instant reaction within me.
Without even thinking much about it, I forced my head forward toward his, using the full extent of my body weight behind me to plant a perfect head butt directly to the centre of nose, breaking it completely. He growled in pain, grasping his nose as blood gushed from his nostrils, and planted a firm punch to my right cheek in reaction.
The sound of chuckling and another car door shutting pulled my attention towards a well-dressed man getting out the passenger side of the car. As he walked towards me, he clapped his hands, continuing his smug, menacing grin.
“They said that you would be a feisty one.” He said with full entertainment in his voice whilst waving his forefinger towards me.
He pulled a lit cigarette up to his lips, taking a long drag of it before blowing the smoke out of his mouth through a smile. I frowned at him, shooting him my darkest glare of disapproval.
I didn’t recognise him, but I could very well study his features. Just by taking one look at him, I could place the unfamiliar accent with his Italian looks. Was this a mafia Job? Had my father started another war?
“Calm down little wolf. We don’t wish to hurt you. Any marks left on your body decrease your value. You see, I have just the right buyer for you. Alas, he is a very picky man. Doesn’t like his girls to look disfigured or broken in any way. In other words, behave, or you will end up like damaged goods. Do you know what I do to damaged goods? I bury them like trash.” He threatened through gritted teeth.
His words, although alarming, did not faze me. Do you know how many sticky situations I have been in because of the family business? Too many too count. I’m not saying I wasn’t afraid right now, I was just… Trying to make the best of a bad situation, and out of all the situations I have been in my life, I would say this is probably a bad one.
“After you,” he gestured with his hand for me to walk towards the open void of nothingness.
I rolled my eyes, wanting to disobey in some way but I decided to play ball for now. Entertaining the two of them as I walked towards the open space. They followed closely behind me, ensuring that I would continue to walk ahead. I didn’t understand where we were going, but for some strange reason, I hoped it was close. I am a wolf, but I hadn’t shifted yet. Therefore, I wasn’t into my wolves’ full capabilities at this point. The snow under my feet meant that I was suffering badly. I could no longer feel them, that’s for sure.
After a short while we came towards a large wall. Torches lit the gate of what I could only describe as an old fort. I scouted the wall to see guards looking out towards us. Clearly, they were expecting our arrival because as we neared the gate; It began to open.
To my surprise, and entire town resided within the walls. It looked as normal as any other town, but there were no one roaming the streets. I suppose it was late, I had seen nothing but darkness in the sky since I was dragged out of the car boot. I walked through the streets until we approached an incredibly large, beautiful building. I’m guessing we have reached out destination.
I mean, whoever was behind all this, had to be from good money. It’s not every day you steal an Alpha’s eldest daughter. After all, that makes me an Alpha myself. Two guards at the door of the building eyed me carefully as we approached.
“Why is this one in chains?” One spluttered, giggling at sheer sight of me.
“Trust me, this ones feisty. We had to take precautions.” The Italian muttered with a menacingly smug grin from behind me.
“Mock us all you like. The hit list just gets longer.” My wolf purred in my mind.
I chuckled inwardly at her remark, taking note of her bravery in this situation. The guard raised his hand towards me, grasping my chin tightly to raise my head, pulling it side to side. My rebellious attitude had me rip my face away from his grasp.
“I suppose the blemish on her cheek is the cause of this feistiness.” He spat. Then he scoffed at the mans face as he noticed the broken nose, looking to the other guard as the both chuckled amongst themselves.
“Regardless, the boss won’t take kindly to it.” The other guard chipped in. The pair of them chuckled between them before opening the doors to the buildings.
“Well, what are you waiting for? Go in.” The Italian snapped from behind me.
I felt a strong force push the centre of my back, causing me to stumble forward. I hated this. If I could just come free from these chains, I could make every, last one of them pay. I walked forward into the building, and despite my hatred for the situation, I could honestly say that the décor inside was beautiful.
The floor was marble white. I would almost feel guilty for walking on it with my dirty bare feet if it wasn’t for the fact that I was determined to stain it with blood at some point. The walls were white, and everything was sparkly clean. The whole look was rather minimalistic, with a few concrete statues dotted around. A sharp tug at the neck of my shirt, stopped me in my tracks.
“That’s far enough girl. You don’t want to be messing up the master’s new floor now do you?” The Italian grinned from behind.
My wolf gave a low growl in my mind, “Master,” she scoffed.
The guards closed the door behind us and there we would wait in the foyer. The waiting was the worst part. I didn’t know what to anticipate. Who would be dumb enough to take me? To be so bold as to pay for me. The reality started to sink in that I had been sold. This wasn’t a ransom job, and I had no idea who set this up.
Why me?
