The Majarlican Demigod
Chapter 27: Training begins
The training officially started off with us falling in line in four rows. We got ten juniors from the dodgeball team and then our class, except Imman, who is probably being kept somewhere else.
"You are officially the group of students who will be personally trained by us from the government to be the peacekeepers." Saphrias introduces, "Your skills are going to be honed to their full potential. Our enemy is nobody but the formless demigod. It will be a tough battle, but I believe the Greatest Almighty will protect us and help us win it."
All it takes is Zephyra and me being trained, and we'll have higher chances of winning against Artes. It's a demigod versus a demigod like it should be. Mortals will not just win because, technically, Artes will have a way of getting inside them.
"Maestra Kornalina selected most of her class because she sees great potential in you, and I selected the Kinesthetics because I believe that you can do more than just passing around the ball on the field." She paused. "All Kinesthetics and Elementals will go with Vice Chief Florentius, Mind Masters with me, and Naturals with Maestra Kornalina."
We followed the vice chief to the east of the field. Since we are a combination, we are the largest team in number so far.
"Alright!" Vice stretched his arms and jumped three times. "Arms forward and sideward. Make sure there's a space apart because we will make big moves," he said.
He let us do a warm first and sit on the ground with our legs crossed.
"The first thing we have to set is your mind. You have to focus on what you do and can do." Vice Chief said, "You will not be able to reach your full potential if you don't believe you can be more than who you are now."
He stood up from the ground, put his hands together on his chest, and breathed out. He looked as concentrated as could be. It was for about a minute—a minute of boredom and not knowing what would happen next upon watching until he slowly emitted a visible blue aura.
The vice chief began to levitate, and he opened his eyes, and it became like a blue laser light. The clouds started to accumulate. He lifted his hands on both sides, and thunder roared, with the wind swirling and blowing hard. He drew lighting with his fingertips, then uprooted a tree from behind. Fear crept in all of us.
Then he lifted Randall up in the air with an intangible yet visible lasso like a hostage. How many minutes did it last? The terrible weather stopped, and Randall was released.
Vice Chief slowly brought himself back to the ground, "You see, I'm an elemental commander of rain, but then, I was able to develop my skills. I am now a cyclone commander, and I crossed-skill telekinesis." he slowly walked to us, "That's the power of belief, children of Majarlika."
That means it's not only me who can cross-skill. Since everyone can do the same thing, it wouldn't be so hard for me to hide my abilities.
"Jasperton Les Voir," the Vice Chief called the junior dodgeball player who stretched himself like a rubber. Stand up and pick up a pair from the elemental commanders."
Jasperton, Hamilton's brother, stood up and picked Winslett. "I'm choosing the water commander."
Winslett stood up.
"You two go here." pointing to his side before us. The two followed what he said.
"Now, I want you to follow as I say. First, close your eyes."
The Rubber-Man and Water commander started doing what the vice chief said.
"Let go of your inner desire to strengthen yourself to defend it from an unknown future danger. Feel the energy around you like a glass filled with hot water."
I don't know, but I started closing my eyes and feeling the energy around me, filling myself with all of it like a glass filled with hot water.
"Imagine you're above the seawater. Walking beyond the height you can reach." Florentius continued, "Hold the power you're getting from nature. Hover the power inside you."
I'm starting to feel hot, like I'm going to explode. I stopped and opened my eyes. I see Winslett floating in a bubble at the top of a tornado, and Jasperton becomes a giant as tall as a skyscraper.
Everyone was silent in awe.
The vice chief commanded them to open their eyes to see it by themselves, but the moment Winslett opened her eyes, she felt, and the water splashed right into us.
Vice Chief pulled Winslett up, "At first, you would have difficulty getting used to growing your skill, and handling it will be like separating the egg yolk from the egg white. But do not be dismayed. You will get used to it."
"Um, how can I go back to my natural form?" Jasperton asked.
"Talia, can we put him on a red fire to shrink him, please?" Vice requested.
Talia burned Jasperton to shrink him back. Some of his excess rubber skin is still melting, which is disgusting.
"You need to balance your emotions every time you're trying to grow your skill because if you're too emotional, you might overdo it or not be able to do it at all. It requires a total focus and a hundred percent concentration to pull it through successfully. Just to warn everyone, some who are overdoing it died from it." Vice stated. "You must be very careful."
He asked us to all stand up as we were soaking wet. He blew a mid-hot air to dry us up. Like everybody else, I felt weight with this training. Just like you're taking up an examination, hoping you'll ace it. If not, at least pass it.
"You will do it later after your activity with Saphrias. Wait for her in here." Vice left us and went to his next group.
The Elementals Winslett, Talia, Zera, Randall, Kinesthetic, the Les Voirs, Francis Lazarus, Hans, Julian, Zera's younger brother, and I are on my team. They all have strong abilities, making me feel like being a demigod is more of a curse than a prestige you can brag about.
Without further ado, Saphrias came in wearing combat attire. It made her look more petite than she was.
"Ladies and Gents, we have a combat by pair," she said straightforwardly. "Zera and Jasperton. Hamilton and Juliano, you're up. It's a team versus team."
Saphria's serious face won't shift. The pairs walk themselves in the middle to start the activity.
"The goal is, you must be able to fight with someone tagged with you," Saphrias announced. She walks to them and ties one team up using a safety buckle within a 5-foot distance. After Zera and Jasperton, she did the same thing to Hamilton and Juliano. When she finished it, she returned to the rest of us, "In a battlefield, we can't avoid that there's an obstacle wherein the person you're with won't be able to fight in full force, and so you have to double up yours. You will surely adapt to this activity."
The training flow is going faster at this phase. Artes won't be here tomorrow, will he?
"He will be here anytime soon when you expect less," Saphrias answered. No, she can't hear me. Can she now? My cousin turned her head on me. " Tomorrow is always uncertain. If you think that Artes will just be away, think twice. Did you hear me right, Young Master Hans?"
I turned my head-- Hans was behind me. That was so close. I thought she could hear my thoughts now. Aside from dying, being unable to be read by others is the only two advantages of being a demigod.
"Begin!" Saphrias gave them the signal to start the fight.
This is a bit that doesn't make sense like fighting each other does not equate to a drill for fighting a formless persona. As they began fighting, Zera aggressively attacked Hamilton and Juliano by blowing them with the wind. The two could hardly hold themselves together, and then Juliano punched the ground, shaking it like a mild earthquake. We all fell down, and Zera was distracted. She was too into this little fight. The wind stopped blowing.
Hamilton floated above the ground and posed like he did the concentration earlier with the Vice Chief. Then a string appeared, and he tied up Zera and Jasperton in the air.
The fight gets interesting.
As he struggles to get out, Jasperton becomes like a gelatinous man, stretches out his right hand, and holds up Hamilton.
The crowd is gone. "Woah!" --Possibilities, huh?
Zera and Jasperton were freed, and Hamilton was held down, but Juliano suddenly roared loudly like a lion. He punched again on the ground and became a big rock beast.
We were again scared by him as he held Zera and Jasperton like a bit of a doll in his one hand, so Hamilton tied them again with the blue intangible lasso back-to-back and used telekinesis to hold them up in the air.
The whole class clapped on such a show-- they picked up the lesson very fast. It ended like cinematic ones until Jasperton melted down like a lumpy batter for a pancake and slipped out from the tie. Zera then started up a whirlwind that almost got the rest of us.
They were down to the ground.
Zera closed her eyes, and the surrounding area became humid as if no air was in circulation anymore. Hamilton and Juliano held on to their chests like they couldn't breathe. She was holding up their oxygen.
They were turning really serious about this practice. Hamilton stood still and started up, concentrating even when there was nothing to inhale. He started looking at Zera, and she was frozen. She couldn't move. Jasperton attempted to hold down his brother, but Juliano held him down by going over him like a rock. The fluidity Jasperton tried to escape the tiny spaces of Juliano's rock formations, but he was closing it tight.
"Maestra, they are killing each other!" Hans shouted in fear.
They are not holding down. Saphrias must have hypnotized them!
She finally called it out, and the fight stopped.
"Next pair!" Phria announced, "Winslett and Hans versus Talia and Francis."
They all got up for the exercise. In the same setup, people were tied in pairs. This will be interesting—Hans and Talia have always been together and know each other's movements subliminally. It would be another exciting fight.
The fight began with the blazing aura that came from Talia, and she set Francis on fire, but of course, Winslett wouldn't let herself be outshined. The water commander lifted her hands and gathered the clouds above them, which became very dark and rained on them. The fire ceased.
Talia and Winslett smiled sarcastically at each other. After a few seconds, Talia stepped back, and the sun's light went out. The day turned into a very dark night. I never thought that Talia could evolve her ability into such. She just literally turned off the sun. Then, it became frigid. I can't see anything.
The phenomenon lasted for more than a minute, then came back, and I saw Winslett waving her hand like she was orchestrating Talia and Francis.
She's blood commanding them!
Hans looked worried, but he seemed not to move or anything. My classmates started murmuring about what was really happening.
