The Majarlican Demigod Chapter 35: See Through The Dark "Congratulations on completing your training!!!" Grim Reaper shocked the heck out of me by shouting in my face when I opened the door. He might be in my room waiting forever without any permission. I entered my room and locked it carefully, "What are you doing here?" I asked as I walked to my bed. Grimmy flies closer to me. "How cold of you! I'm just here to congratulate you on completing the training." I sat on the bed and removed my combat shoes, "That's the training you needed me to have? If that's the kind of training and I'm battling an expert formless demigod, I'm at a loss already!" "Well, that was the introduction of your training," Grim Reaper flew above me. "Since we're cousins, I help out in your training with the guardian sometimes. As a formless guy, I know how Artes feels for not being seen by mortals like humans and Majarlicans." I halted, "Does that mean I can see Artes like I can see you?" Grim Reaper nods twice. "Although he has some techniques on how to hide even from gods, I'm sure we can find a way to do it if you behave." He answered. I showed him my annoyed face and stood up, "Just what do you mean by behaving?" I opened my closet to get ready for a bath. "Doing what you are told, feeling what was told, thinking what was told." Grim Reaper got me that I froze. All my life, I only do what I was told. I set limits to my freedom by strictly following what everyone told me to live up to their expectations. Still, none of my efforts were enough for them. "See?" Grim Reaper appeared closer to me, "Your emotions are easily swayed. That's not how you should behave, cousin. If you want to save your people, you must be tough." He disappeared. What does a grim reaper know about being tough? He never lived and experienced any emotion in his life. I hate that it's coming from him. "You overdo it again, Althea," —Brighton's using telepathy again? "I didn't mean to break the strings, you know," I responded. "Of course, you'll say that. Anyway, we will start your training today," my celestial guardian announced. "Can we move it to tomorrow? I mean, everybody is in the field relaxing. We should at least act like normal beings who get exhausted and need rest," I suggest. "The Pandora heiress even took you for a tour just to learn nothing," The voice is in my room. I looked right at the door and saw another creature I think I had seen before. "Y-y-you're…" I don't even know how to breathe anymore. "Your celestial guardian. You haven't seen me in this form for so long, huh?" the guy said. He has 3 pairs of wings, from eyes on his back and feet. His profile looks like a tiger's, but from the front, it's very tall and like an eagle. "If you worry so much about being seen with Brighton Salazaria, then I can change into this form, too, if that's more convenient." "But that means I'll be talking to myself all the time," I told him, "I don't care about what the others will say anymore. After all, the end is coming for this world." Or so I thought. "We need to finish before dinner. Meet Brighton in the gymnasium." My celestial guardian disappeared right before my eyes. After washing my face, I changed into different clothing instead of going for a bath. Then, I used teleportation to proceed to the gymnasium. When I reached the gymnasium, it was dark; perhaps it was closed for vacation. "Aren't we going to light up this room?" I asked, or rather, throwing words in the darkness where I didn't even see anything. "Is the demigod I'm looking after afraid of darkness?" Brighton's here, but it's too dark to find him. "I'm not!" I stammered. A soft wind blew in my right ear, "Let's see about that," I felt myself being pushed hard down to the ground. Indeed, I was in total surprise. My survival instinct got activated, so I got up, but before I was able to, the sound of metal cracking through my ribs got me. This just can't be happening at all. "Is this what the daughter of goddess Zephrias is made of?" Brighton chuckled. Why would I guard someone who quickly loses her temper? My time is being wasted, and you're such a waste!" I'm enraging with anger that I want to end him in this instant. I take out the sword that my nagging guardian struck in my chest. I took a deep breath as the last words he said imaginarily repeated in my head. Concentration begins; there were torches here the last time I came. First, I had to light up this room, so I stretched my hand up and let the remaining lightning release from me—it appeared, and I threw it all around; luckily, the torches lit up. Even the room lit up. Brighton was not around me on the ground. "I will never go easy on you!" a shout from above me caught my attention. I'm mad that my guardian is wiping my face and how bad I handle my emotions and call them out occasionally. I dodge the attack by reappearing from his back and punching him with the sword's handle. Brighton did fall, but at least I hit him. "Once Artes showed up and took all the source of light, you're finished," Brighton blabbered, "Why do you think you have that ability to absorb skills? Just because? Gods must be kidding then!" he attacked me and tried to s***h me apart again. Too bad for him. I'm good with words. My nagging celestial guardian said I was losing my temper again. I refuse to lose my emotion this time. Think Ally! Why does my guardian keep pointing out my weakness? I don't think that it's merely for pissing me off. Every clang of the metal that clashed against each other gave me a hint that it became music in my ear. At this state, my reflexes aren't as good as the dodgeball team's buys, nor my brain as sharp as this nagging guy… But I know that I'm not a waste at all. I know I can learn so much more and do more than I can now. I reappeared behind Brighton and took back the light from the torches. I absorbed Rupert's ability to be a bird. Therefore, I also have the vision of an owl to see at night. Finally, I understood what my guardian was trying to teach me today: utilize all the abilities I've acquired efficiently and not be emotional. The sword ends with me stepping back with my tip pointed at his neck. A smile of victory is clearly in my eyes, "If I'm a waste, then you're a nagging guardian who does nothing but talk." Brighton laughed and teleported beside me. "I'm watching over a fast learner, I guess." He patted my head, and then we left the gymnasium to go back for dinner. The days continued to be tiring, and even our day off became a day of training. Unlike what Saphrias said before, she didn't come to my Brighton training. And what can I say? Days passed by quickly. My progress was slowly but surely. No one can be tough overnight as they demand me to be, but I'll make me better than how I was on the first day. (To Be Continued)
