The Majarlican Demigod Chapter 4: The lost memory     There were corpses all over the place... I was walking over them, looking for my younger sister. Zephyra shouted my name begging for mercy when my eyes found my little sister’s eyes, my whole body drained all strength. A person wearing helmet was holding my sister's head then he drew his sword on her stomach.   "Ally..." was her last word before she was utterly slain lying on the ground along with the other corpse. Then I quickly pushed the person in anguish but he was strong. He removed his helmet. An image so vivid flashed in my eyes, "M-m-maestro Ivan?" I muttered. "If you think you can beat me, Althea, you're wrong!" He said.   All the courage I got washed away.   He smirked, "I was the one who put the idea on Kadeen's head to plagiarize the over-budget report so that the Chief of Youngsters Centralis will be in trouble," he's slowly taking steps towards me. "I am also the one who gave Ivy the poison to try getting rid of your sister so that council will be in chaos, AND IT WAS ALSO ME who let Augustus be exposed flirting with a student of the Premiera de Academia so all that you will know about me— will never be taught!"   I covered my ears so I couldn't hear him, "No! You're lying!" I shouted. "You're just a foreign Maestro trying to be the Chief in Centralis!" "I am not Ivan, can't you see?" He continued, "I just used this body to get my revenge just like I did to Kadeen, Ivy, and Augustus." He pushed me to the ground. "I am the son of Ares. I will also be the one to kill the child of the Goddess of Fatal Disease. Say goodbye to Kingdom Majarlika, Demigod Althea." he raised his sword and put it on my chest.   An overflowing of blood came from me. I feel the time slowing down on me and the gray sky turning black from my sight, I'm grasping hard for oxygen to breathe and the big deep cut on my body is undeniably aching that I could cry.   The surrounding turned quiet for a moment, then a sound of the drip of water from a newly closed faucet resounds in a silent place. I opened my eyes.   Greenish smoke, a cold rock bedding, pit black surrounding with only a few floating bulbs to give at least a little light.   "Althea of the West!" Someone slowly appeared. It was wearing a long black gown with a hood and a sickle. That sickle looks very sharp to me. "Where am I? Who are you?" I asked. The person removed the hoodie, the face looks like he is not sleeping for thousands of years that looks gray, and a pair of eye bags that is literally black– he doesn't seem to have a good sleeping pattern at all, plus his shoulder-long hair seemed to be too sticky and hasn't been brushed like ever since. He walked around me, "Can you guess?" "God of death? You must be my uncle," my voice sounds trembling over him, "Zephrias, the goddess of fatal disease is my mother."   He laughed and the thunder rolled!   "Silly girl!" he stopped in front of me, "I'm not the god of death. I'm his son and apprentice. So yeah... I was sent to help you because my father is busy right now." he floated while seating, "Just a brief explanation, your mom asked my father for help because you died in your encounter with Artes, so I'm here to resurrect you." "I DIED FOR REAL?! like not breathing anymore?" I asked. "I was not informed that you are that slow," he stomped the sickle on the ground, "To be honest, I missed having an accompany here and missed sharing stories of life since I never really had one in the first place, but I have a lot of tasks right now. I’ll tell you what. Artes, the son of Ares, will wipe out the population of Kingdom Majarlika and take over it. Many will be deceived by his offer. Your mission is to warn everyone when you go back there. Also, make sure that you will get trained before that day, so you will not die. If you die again, no other chance."             “Information overload, Sir.” I responded. "We don’t have time for that. There will be siblings coming to Premiera de Academia Centralis on the first day of school but at night. That's the beginning. You will just count like months or maybe 1 or 2 years, that depends." “How do I know it's them?" I asked He sits on the bed, "Well, the younger one sings, and her skill is to put people down to sleep, then the other one multiplies like he can technically be everywhere at the same time." "Got it." I said, "One last question," He paused and raised his brow at me, "Make sure that's the last." "Where's my mother?" I asked. He stood up, "Alright, cousin, times up. You'll see her if you have forgotten about this. She will be there to remind you as part of their agreement." he is pushing me towards a big hole, "She specifically asked dad to take you back to the first day of school so you will have ample time. If you die again, you will be assisting me here." I resist his push, "Wait, you didn’t tell me your name!" "No names. Your travel will take 24 hours, so sleep well," he ignored me and pushed me out. An endless pit of darkness was pulling me down. I was helplessly falling. I'm not sure if it is going slow or fast. All I know is that I feel like I'm sliding.   Then I closed my eyes, I Was not sure how long I was gonna stay here, so I decided to follow what the grim reaper said— I sleep in the hope that when I wake up, this is finally over. The time feels like I’m having freefall on an endless pit, then I was then touching a cloud. I see birds flying in V form. Skyrise buildings and the ocean. I made it out from the land of dead!   The the gravity pulled me very fast.   My eyes opened. I sat down to grasp air, then stood up and walked to the study table to get the bottled water. I'm too thirsty that I was able to finish it.   "Did it just happened?" I loudly asked myself. "Did mom showed up to remind me about it?" "Yes, she did..." — the grim reaper showed up from the window. I dropped the bottle. I walked to it. This is insane! "That was all real, honeybunch!" It flew over me. "So I died?" Looking at my body and tried to feel it somehow. "How many times are you going to ask if you die? Like yes, you died! YOU'RE WELCOME— I returned your soul to your body. The endless pit was actually the time-traveling portal. I returned you to your body on the first day of class." he said. "So, mom was right?" I whispered. "What do I do, grim reaper? I mean, I know that my power is to nullify forces, but how would it help me defy Artes?" I asked. He sat on my bed, "Well, I'm sorry, girl, but you're mistaken actually." he stood up, "Your power is to absorb the force and then emit it." "What do you mean by that?" I'm confused. "Let's say your fire commander friend threw a ball of fire on you. What's gonna happen is you will absorb it like you have nullified it, but no, it is stuck on you, and you can throw it back at her," he explained. "That's amazing, Grimreaper. How did you know about it?" I was intrigued. "Um, remember that I am a grim reaper? Once a person died, I would be able to get their file. According to the information I've had, which is now gone, Althea West: A demigod daughter of the goddess of fatal disease has the full power of an immortal being, including absorbing full forced power attack and use it against the opponent." he said. "Wow! Are you sure that was mine? I mean, look at me... I'm only five feet, probably not the smartest, and sometimes I faint due to iron deficiency. How can I possibly contain that kind of power? A power that big!" I faced the mirror behind me with seeing my pitiful-looking self. “I'm not even at least pretty."   I faced grim reaper.   He frowned at me then rolled his eyes. "Don't give such drama," he said, "I mean, look at me. Do I look glorious?" he asked.   Silence.   "I know that I don't, but I have accepted it. I did not let it get in my way. Good for you because you were able to live, not just once but twice! I was never even given a chance to live for that long. Just a quick overview, my mom is a witch who was set on fire when she was pregnant with me, so yeah, I am unborn." He flew around the ceiling, "But behold! I'm the only demigod who can return a soul to their body, plus I have the perks of seeing other people's remaining time to live. No one else can do that, except the Greatest Almighty, of course." That makes sense. The grim reaper is absolutely correct.   "I see your point. Well, what I just meant was the power given to me is very great. I'm not even sure how will I be able to save people." "You can do it. That's all that I can say," Grim reaper said while floating around. "Isn't there any aide for me? Like someone who wouldn't die too?" —maybe there is right? "You know, you're just like your mother. Both of you were demanding many things," he said. "But well, don't tell it to others that I told you about this." "About what?" I asked. "Your demanding mother asked a favor from the Chief Celestial Guardians to give you your own guardian for your fight with Artes." he stopped flying and sat on my study table. "I don't know how she was able to convince the Chief, but I guess they think it will not cause imbalance, and it would save the good Majarlican, which isn't too bad." "Then, how would I know that it's that person?" I asked. He will not tell a name anyways. "Um, you're asking too much already," he replied. "Ahh?? Please, cousin! Just at least three clues." I walked to him. "Usually, people will ask for one clue... But you... Oh goodness! Should I just take you back to the land of dead demigods?" "Please!" I plead with puppy eyes. This might work, you know. "Fine." He flew to the balcony again. "So first, he still possesses his celestial powers such as the different animal looks you can check your books about it. Second, he is here in Centralis watching over you— one of your classmates. Third, he is a guy–though the celestial guardians don't really have gender, he was given a body of a boy which is in your age too." "I need to thank my mom for that." I muttered. "Aren't you thanking me too?" he exclaimed. "Oh. My bad, cousin. Thank you for all." I said. "We're demigods. We really do not call each other cousin or brother nor sister. Just call me Grimreaper. That will do," he said, "and you really don't have to mention it. I'm just messing up with you," then he disappeared.   The morning dark blue sky is slightly turning bright. It's 5 in the morning according to my wall clock— time to prepare. According to our schedule, I will have to do the hygiene first. After that bath, I had my breakfast with the rest of the people. We didn't get much of conversation since it's still early in the morning.   "Did you sleep well, ladies?" Hans asked, walking with us to the campus. Talia frowned, "How am I supposed to sleep? I wasn't able to find the right spot on that bed. I was up 'til three in the morning!" she outburst. "Is that so? I'm sorry to hear about it." Hans empathized. "Would you like to request a different mattress?" Talia sighed, "No. I just need to get used to it," she leaned her head on me while walking. I pat Talia’s head. She’s like my twin sister, and I'm embarrassed to suddenly remember how I see her lifeless in the future because I didn't kill Artes due to fearfulness. It pinches my heart. "What happened, Ally?" Talia stopped in front of me. She was looking at me. "Are you crying?" Hans just wiped my right cheek.   I was.   "Ally!" Talia looked at me with teary eyes. "Don't feel too bad. I'm fine!" she said. "You guys are too cheesy!" Hans patted our heads, messing up our heads.   We then laughed like crazy. Going to the campus anyway, we are about to cross a pedestrian when a horse appeared coming through so fast the horseman can't control him anymore. I got separated from Talia and Hans then just like that, a horse came to crush my face. I'm not gonna die anyway, so I covered my face and shouted.   "WAAA..." my tone descends, "———AHH!!!!" I am above the ground-- I looked around and down. People were looking up at me. I felt something wrapped around me. A warm... who the—? We landed when the horse was gone. I saw how the white-wide wings hid on the person's back, like not entirely, but I saw it.   "Are you alright, young lady?" He asked.   A person that has different animal forms in my age!   "I'm ok. Thanks." I responded. "Good to hear. You should be careful." He said, "Um, I'll see you around. By the way, I'm Rupert Luxembourg."   Could he be my celestial guardian?   (To be continued)
