Audrey's Pov: We got back to the hotel with me still feeling mad about what happened back at the gallery. "Come on Audrey let it go, am sure he didn't mean it that way. Maybe he was just in a hurry and needed to be somewhere else. Things like this happen all the time, you can't just judge him for it." Mom said, still trying to convince me to forget about it. "I can judge him and I will judge him. What an asshole. Dude couldn't even apologize for bumpin into me. I swear if I ever see him again even by accident, he is definitely going to regret it." I said, feeling more pissed than I was before I started talking. She just rolled her eyes and walked away, with me right behind her. "You are so much like your father always refusing to let things slide." My mom said as we unlocked our hotel room. "Why do you have to be so whiny about small things like this." She chuckled. "Am not whining. Am pissed. He was so rude. He definitely deserves a good beating." I said, still a bit mad but mostly exhausted. She stared at me for a while before announcing that she was going to take a shower and disappearing into the bathroom. I flopped down on the couch totally exhausted. I felt something poking me in my back pocket. Gosh, I totally forgot about the box in my pocket. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the box.Opening it to see what was in it. It revealed a ring inside. A purple ring with a bit of hazel to it. It was beautiful. I couldn't stop staring at the ring it seemed to pull me in, all I could do was stare. I got jolted back to reality by my phone ringing furiously. I closed the box. Still trying to get my thoughts back together. I picked up the phone not even checking who the caller was. "Hello." I said still trying to get my thoughts together and fight off the headache that was starting to grow. "You little fucker, how could you run off to New york without letting me know." I heard my best friend's voice blast through my phone with full force. I didn't even have to check the caller's Id to know it was Victoria on the phone. I could recognize her voice anywhere. I rolled my eyes, "I was gonna tell you but I couldn't find you. I told Jay though, I thought he was gonna tell you." I said honestly. "b***h don't you dare drag me into this. This is your fight. Fight it alone." I heard my other best friend's voice, making me smile a bit. Victoria and Jayson have been my friends for as long as I can remember. My only friends. And I loved them so much. We became friends in middle school and since then we have been inseparable. "O my god I can't believe this." Vicky gasps feigning hurt." I can't believe you too are keeping secrets from me now." she said, making me roll my eyes. "Would you stop being so dramatic, no one is keeping secrets from anyone. I think Jay just forgot to tell you so get over yourself." I said sounding a bit teasing. "Whatever b***h, now tell me all about New york how does it look like.Have you gone to the museum and have you checked out their art gallery. I bet it must be beautiful as hell." Vicky rambled on. "Okay pause. Chillax. Step back three paces. First of all, yes I have gone to the art gallery and God it's f*****g amazing to be sincere." I replied. Just like me Victoria is a sucker for art and anything art related. It was something we had in common. We loved art. But Jayson not so much. He preferred things that has to do with fantasy and mystery. That thought reminding me of a certain ring object with a weird shape to it. "Hey Jay." I started before I could stop myself." Do you think you could help me out with something." I asked, hopefully. "Sure what's up." Jay replied a bit bored. "I found something at the art gallery, something that feels misplaced." You think you can help me research on it." I asked with determination. "Okay." Jay replied a bit curious and interested now. "What did you find." I heard Vicky ask with a hint of curiosity in her voice. "Well its nothing much. Just a weird looking ring with really strange inscriptions on it." I say, trying to sound less interested than I really was about this topic. "Sooo, you saw a strange ring and decided it was best to pick it up?" Vicky asked, amusement clear in her voice. "I did not just decide to pick it up." I said a bit defensive." It was in a box. And I only picked it up so I could try and find it's original owner." I said, lying about the part that I was just being curious that's why I picked up the ring. "Okay, so it came with a box." Jayson said, stating the already known facts. "Yep." I said. " Hmm." The line went dead for a minute, giving me the assumption that they were thinking. So I tried picturing an image of Jayson deep in thoughts, and I quickly flinch from it. Jay never really think. He just does. So the thought of him actually thinking felt weird. "I got it." Jayson said, sounding a bit excited. " I think I know exactly where to search. Send me a picture of the box." He said, a bit too excited. "Wait, were you thinking." Vicky said, voicing out my thoughts and trying hard to stifle a laugh, but failing miserably. "Yeah, I was thinking. What is so amusing about it." Jayson said, clearly annoyed at Vicky's reaction. "Nothing, its just that you never think. Sometimes I even wondered if you had a brain." Vicky manages to say between laughs, making me chuckle. Already sensing where this was heading, I decided to intervene. "That enough Vicky, of course Jayson has a brain and he is going to use it to help me solve this boxed ring mystery." I said successfully diverting the topic. "Jay am going to send you a pic of the box now okay." I said, addressing Jay. "Sure send it. I will take a look and get back to you." Jay said dismissively, I could tell by his voice that he was waiting for me to end the call so he could start a full on argument with Vicky about the not thinking thing. "Sure, thanks I will send the picture now. Good night guys." I said before ending the phone call. I quickly took a pic of the box and the ring inside before sending it to Jayson. Sighing, I flopped on the bed, only just feeling how exhausted I was. I heard the bathroom door slide open. Mum came out of the bathroom. She walked over to the walk in closet while screaming at me to go take a shower. I sighed again, stood up and made my way to the shower, feeling a bit dizzy and really tired. I took a quick shower and changed into my nightwear before going to lay on the bed and drifting off to sleep. "Goodnight sweetie." I heard my mum's voice say from the other side of the bed. I just hummed in response and didn't reply. Damn I was f*****g tired.
