The moment I opened my eyes, it was like my breath was taken away.
There was no one on this earth, or above it, who had ever come close to being as gorgeous as Anika was. Even when she was doing something as simple and ordinary as sleeping, she still found a way to look perfect while doing it. It was almost unfair how effortlessly beautiful she was sometimes.
My heart squeezed tightly, and that familiar flutter of butterflies filled my stomach.
Anika Kingston was the only one who had ever made me feel this way.
It had always been like this. She had my heart even when she did not want it, even when she barely noticed it was hers forever. And now she was here with me. Mine. Well, not completely, not officially, not in the way I wanted yet. But Simon had let her slip away.
