SIMON’S POV I was back to drinking again. How could I not? With each passing day, it became more and more obvious that Anika had moved on. She had moved on to someone else. Someone who was not me. And of all the men in the world, it had to be Liam Danson. The irony of it all was so cruel that sometimes I felt like laughing, but the sound always died somewhere in my throat and turned into something bitter instead. The way he looked at her, like she was the sun and he orbited around her willingly. Protected her, Believed her without so much as a second thought. That was everything that I should have been. I shut my eyes and took another long swig from the bottle. The alcohol burned all the way down, but it was nothing compared to the acid clawing at my chest. I had been wrong.
