CHAPTER FIVE ~•THE TATTLETALE•~
I was already waiting by the hallway a few meters from the gallery room after I had finished off my secret business in the Alpha King's room.
It was a surreal experience that I would never forget yet it hurt badly when he regarded me as his Luna Elena.
"How did it go" I asked immediately after my master came out from the gallery room.
He had been in a conversation with Beta Drahul. They contemplated over my master's decision to approach the realm of 'balance' in other to save the Alpha King.
Drahul considered the approach too heightened and humiliating for the king, and the royal family at large.
If word got out that the Alpha King was in a severe condition because of his late Luna, that he was hanging onto the dead Luna's soul and wouldn't let go, it would seem degrading and embarrassing to the royal family, because the Alpha was expected mourn for a short while, bury his Luna, move on and stand strong in other to uphold his throne and rule his people. But in this case, it was a different situation, the Alpha behaved weakly like a newborn pup.
He was eluded in another realm between life and death. How could a distressed incapacitated Alpha King rule Tredolor?
My master seemed unsatisfied with Drahul's decision but I had to pretend like I wasn't eavesdropping by asking how his conversation went through.
"It went awful, Drahul says he needs time before he can inform the council about the approach" my master exhaled. He was probably tired from convincing Drahul to accept his terms.
"But time wasn't on our side," I said anxiously
"I know that hence I pleaded we inform the council tomorrow but Drahul insisted on telling them in two weeks and I argued no further"
By pleaded he meant he argued with Drahul, then he deliberated with him about the date for informing the council because two weeks was too far yet Drahul refused. The Alpha King needed immediate treatment but Drahul insisted on his terms, he possibly needed more time to break the ice to the council, an ice story about a debilitated Alpha King.
"The Alpha King would be held tightly before approaching the balance" my master continued
"Of course, whatever you need. I am willing to search the forest for those special herbs"
While I was still discussing with my master, I saw someone hiding behind the pillars towards the left wing of the hallway. The faint shadow seemed to be sneaking about, probably of the Omega servants possibly eavesdropping to gather some info.
"I have studied the Alpha King's situation, there is more to this and I would need you to..."
My master's words began to depreciate because I wasn't paying attention to him. He spoke clearly but I was more focused on detecting if I had seen a shadow scurrying around the corner. I locked my eyes for a minute in other to intensify my sense of smell and It hit me real quick, it was a she-wolf, I could perceive her bland scathing aura, she smelt sapid and spicy at the same time.
"Desmona are you here with me" my master asked, he probably noticed I was off the radar
"One minute master, I think we have a spy hiding amongst us now" I whispered
"Oh, there goes another reason we need to inform the council before another rumor spreads" my master worried
"You should go on I will meet you later," I said to my master before heading towards the pillar.
I was standing in front of the pillar, I could still sense her hiding behind it but I decided to wait till my master was tone.
"Ok you can come out now, I know you are there" I began after my master left.
I heard her breathing, she was probably scared that I had ratted her out. When she came out she looked feeble in a ramshackle dress.
"I am sorry," she said
"Why are eavesdropping" I asked politely while trying to decline my temper.
The Royal family Tredelor had already suffered stringent rumors ever since Luna Elena died.
"I wanted to know if the rumors were true"
"What rumor" I asked curiously
"Rumor has it that the king is dead but now that I am in the castle it's evident that he is still alive"
She said looking at me with mere pitful shaky eyes. I wanted to devour her with my anger but I was good at withholding my emotions, I couldn't let my anger get the best of me. She seemed like she needed help and I should be doing that and not the opposite. Still, the Alpha King's information didn't deserve to be susceptible to rumors.
"What's your duty in this castle" I asked
"I assist in the kitchen, I am not the head cook but am good at making really good pies" she giggled
"Now you listen to me, I don't care what you heard here. You only need to keep your mouth shut any one more word of what transpired here you would be a dead meat" I concluded before walking off.
"What about the part when you entered the Alpha King's chambers" she added
"that part when you kissed the Alpha king" she added again.
my heart skipped when she said kissed, could she have seen everything that happened when I was in the Alpha King's room.
