Untitled: Growing in poverty
My name is Majavelin though people fondly calls me lilian but my family often calls me lily ,been the only daughter and only child of a well known business tycoon in the popular part of Lagos and also nigeria. The truth is my journey began far from luxury, but What people see today is only one side of my story. ************************************************************ *************************** I have been living with my granny counting up to 13(thirteen)years,for as long I can remember. We live in the most noiser and ghetto part of Ajegunle,Morayo street, where everyone struggle for survival each day. . I and my granny which I call Mama live together in a 2storeybface me I face you compound, where quarrel is the order of the day. "who is that animal that threw water at my gate" "it is your children and your generation that is an animal" the woman who threw the water shouted back, they kept insulting themselves nobody intervened,me my self I walked passed minding my own business, cuz the moment you intervened to be the good samaritan both opposing parties would attack you and only God knows what will happen to you next. This was what I see everyday in that compound. Back to me and my granny,as I have said earlier we live in a face- me-i-face you 1(one) room apartment, where everyone share the same bathroom and toilet, while you use your corridor as a kitchen by building a small cupboard where you keep all cooking utensil and cooking take place. Back then at the age of 7 I help my granny to supply firewood to her customers, sometimes I carry it on my head but most times if the wood are much my granny would use the wheelbarrow while I Carried some in my hand and followed behind. Things were not easy for us,eating good food was like a luxury to us . I started schooling at age 4, though I attended a public school. There no school fees payment just buying of some basic books such as mathematics, English Language, Quantitative and Verbal reasoning text book with few excercise books for writing other subjects, yet Mama could not afford all. I had to work harder so we can afford my education,so after school hours I hawked sachet water which is pupolarly called pure water šŸ’¦ also with can minerals, most days it would be gala or cheese balls or popcorn along the busy Lagos road,so I can at least buy some of the text books. 🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰😊🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰 One day while hawking at the busy road , somebody called me across the road which needed me to cross and you know in Nigeria, especially Lagos big trucks drive on the road which they normally call MOLWee and all the vehicles are usually on speed, nobody slowed down for you to cross, when crossing express roads like that you run like someone in a marathon race but if you are willing to see the other side of life don't run, even adults dared crossing express roads in Lagos that is why it is advisable to use the cross over bridge, but most people prefer crossing the main road because using the cross over bridge is a longer distance than crossing the main road. As a child is even more dangerous to cross but I needed to sell so I took that bold step which almost led me to my creator. The last thing I could remember was myself on the fall seeming and people was circled around then darkness,I don't even know how it even happened.. *********†******************†******************†**********************†
