Bertha began to look panicked because Amelia had not yet returned to her room. She went out and asked her other colleagues, who might have seen Amelia today at the office.
One of the doctors who had met Amelia in the elevator said they had gone upstairs together; the doctor said Amelia stops and out on the seventh floor and headed for one of the corridors, said the doctor.
Bertha is getting to pound and panic.
" Did she go up to seven floors?"
" But for what?" asks Bertha to herself.
Without thinking for long, Bertha immediately entered the elevator and headed up to the seventh floor.
On the fifth floor, the elevator stopped, and a female nurse entered along with a male doctor. Bertha, who was busy holding her cellphone and texting Grace asking if she had seen Amelia, did not pay attention to the two joiners who had just entered the elevator. The elevator stopped on the seventh floor, and Bertha came out with the two health teams.
The floor looked deserted as usual. Nobody she met, it is only three of them, the doctor and the nurse, their steps echoing along the corridor. Suddenly both turned to the other hall; Bertha glimpsed the nurse, it's look-alike jenny! Bertha with excitement And surprised to call her immediately:
"Miss Jenny!" Bertha shouted. But the nurse was out of sight. She has no idea which rooms they did enter.
Bertha returned her focus to her goal of finding Amelia. She recalled what happened a few days ago in the storage room. Walking alone on the seven floors is enough to shudder, goosebumps, while Amelia in the cleaning room was still dumbfounded. She remembered strong someone's arm grabbed her and saved her from that madman's ax attack.
" Is that was Arthur?" she shook her head.
The janitor told Amelia he must go to another floor for cleaning; he had to leave amelia alone. Because his job didn't finish yet:
'' I will be going to clean another floor."
"Is it ok to leave you here mam?".
Amelia said spontaneously:
"Wait I'm coming with you."
"Oh, I want to go up to the tenth floor, mam, to clean the doctor's rooms.
"Yes, but don't leave me here," Amelia said, scared.
The janitor was a little surprised but was reluctant to ask.
Still in the mind of the janitor:
"why are you afraid to stay? while you intentionally slept in that room earlier, alone again" janitor shook his head in unbelievable. He walked out, followed by Amelia.
Bertha, in confusion, suddenly heard the voices of people were talking. She turned her steps towards the direction the voice came from and was surprised:
"Sisters!"
"My gosh, I've been looking for you since this morning."
"Looks, what time is it, you were left your room without bringing your phone with you!" said Bertha, annoyed. But glad when saw her best friend.
Amelia quickly grabbed Bertha's hand and led her to go down; suddenly horrified Amelia saw the elevator, she turned towards the stairs:
"Come on, let's go this way, you don't have to use an elevator," said Amelia scared.
Bertha obeyed but still noticed the look on her best friend's face like she feared something.
"Amelia!" Bertha said, trying to calm the pale Amelia
" Where did you go?"
"And what happened to you?"
"This is your cellphone, your husband has been calling since, but I didn't answer it caused I don't know what to tell him?"
Amelia took the phone in Bertha's hand, where Amelia's hands were still shaking.
Bertha understands Amelia's situation; she seems to be going through a nervous breakdown; Bertha hugs her best friend's shoulder and feels worried.
"Are you able to drive?" ask bertha.
"Otherwise, I will call the driver, we used to drive for you."
"Suddenly, she could not hold back her tears, and she sobbed while hugging Bertha.
Bertha quickly took her to an empty room after they reached the ground floor. Bertha asked Amelia to sit in a waiting chair for an unoccupied patient.
"Tell me what happened," said Bertha with concern.
Slowly Amelia took out a piece of old newspaper from her shirt pocket and handed it to Bertha.
Bertha was getting more clueless looking at the old yellow newspaper that was torn and crumpled.
"Yes?" what is it with this old newspaper?
"Wow, 1859?" said Bertha, wide-eyed
It must be an old newspaper.
Amelia, with trembling hands, pointed to the photo in the newspaper, her voice trembling said:
"You must be familiar with that face."
Bertha tried to see, but it could not see clearly, the face of a white woman. But bertha shook her head at Amelia.
"I don't know who are they sis?" Bertha said seriously
Amelia tried to tidy up the torn newspaper sheets. And show the name listed. Bertha read it
"Jenny is the word written on it?" asked Bertha, but unfortunately, the connection of the title continues to cut out.
Amelia nodded quickly.
Bertha looked at her in surprise.
"Amelia say something."
said Bertha panicked.
Amelia took a breath, and slowly, she started to adjust her voice which got chocked up from earlier.
"That's your friend Jenny," said Amelia.
"Jenny?"
"You mean Jenny Cavanaugh?" ask bertha back, wide-eyed.
"Yes," answered Amelia, looking at Bertha with fear.
Bertha trying to hold her laugh but could not help and laughed hard.
" Are you kidding?" said bertha while trying not to laugh as she saw Amelia's serious face look at her.
" Listen, look at the date and year of the newspaper," said bertha to Amelia, seriously.
" I saw jenny, just a while ago with a doctor walking down the corridor " added Bertha more.
Amelia trembled and grabbed an arm Bertha, gripping it tightly. Bertha screamed in pain.
"Ouch!" shriek, bertha.
"Sorry," said Amelia, upset.
"Come on, Amelia, I'll take you home," said Bertha worried.
" We'll talk about it later when you are ok," said Bertha to Amelia. About her best friend's condition. Bertha already discussed this with Robert Amelia's husband. Bertha notices something serious with her; she understands that Amelia is in the postpartum period, were easily shocked and nervous; a small thing can be a big thing for her.
For Robert, Bertha is not someone else; she considers part of his own family because his wife looks like sisters with Bertha as they are so close. With a worried tone, she told amelia:
" You need to get a rest."
"Let me call the driver for you."
"I can come back home later by taxi.
Bertha is so considerate of her best friend, and she is perturbed about Amelia's current state. Though Bertha is confused about what Amelia is trying to tell her. For now, however, Bertha prefers to refrain from asking.
