Danny brushes off her school skirt. Taylor's hair got all over it. The black cat was especially fond of the skirt as it could spend hours on it without being disturbed. Mostly because you couldn't see the little fluffball on it, but Danny had the daily struggle of getting the hair off. "It'll teach you to hang up your uniform," her mother would say on a regular basis when she was still there. Her mom died a few years ago and the murderer was never caught. "Case went cold." her dad told her a few weeks ago when Danny was old enough to understand. But Danny knew better. They can't catch a vampire breaking the treaty in bars of steel. And telling a cop a vampire did it would have her end up in an asylum of some sort and never see the light of day again. Furthermore, the bastard would find her. Danny gets dressed and looks in the mirror. She has red hair. Not long but shoulder-length. She has beautiful hazel eyes, but Danny had never considered it that way. She ties her hair up in a quint bun. And heads downstairs. "Hi, dad. Bye, dad." she says, racing down the stairs and bolting for the door. "Aren't you going to eat something sweety?" her dad's voice sounds worried. "No, dad. I'll just get a coffee on my way to school, then it's all good. I want to get there early to tell the clubs and my friends that I won't be seeing them next semester." "Okay, honey." It doesn't take long for Danny to get to school in her red mini-cooper. This will be the last time she will be driving in this car since it was sold yesterday and will be picked up after school just before their things are packed up and sent via a truck to New Orleans. Danny will miss sunny Florida, but she's going to the place where the vamps roam free, the place where people look the other way from vampires that have daylight rings. Danny sighs and stops in her usual parking spot. Most people say the spot has bad luck, but the spell her mom cast on her car makes it immune against any and all supernatural attempts on her life. She gets out and goes to her friends. "Hey, girls. How are you guys doing?" Jamie reacts first. "Better than with you, it seems. What's up?" They started their own little coven where Danny and Jamie became the first witches. Jamie has the ability to sense feelings that people try to hide. She once said that the guy Ashley liked likes her back. Ashley was so embarrassed but chatted with him anyway and a week later they started dating. A few days later, it turned out Ashley was also a witch and joined the coven not long after. "I can't hide anything from you, can I?" Jamie laughs. "Nope. Spill it." The whole group of werewolves, witches, and humans look at her. "I'm moving to New Orleans this summer." Danny waits. After a minute, everyone starts talking at the same time. "What about the coven?" "Why do you have to go?" "Are you coming back?" "Isn't that the breeding ground for vampires?" "When are you leaving?" "Do you need help packing?" "Will we have time for one last get together?" "What about your car?" "Screw that, what about the enchantment on your car?" When everyone goes quiet Jamie asks: "How are you feeling? Will you be okay?" Hearing the concern in her voice, Danny bursts out crying. When she calms down, she takes a deep breath and says: "The coven will go on without me. I can't stay with the memories of my mom. I leave in two days and I'm not coming back, so we can still get together. And we would love some help. My car has been sold and I'm removing the enchantment after school before they come to fetch my car. I'm still in shock but I will be fine." Eventually, she adds in her mind. They all head in satisfied with the answers but still more than a little upset at Danny leaving. Because they are meeting up after school, the day moves on quite slowly. Danny tries not to think about the fact that it's her last day as a student at this school. She'll keep in contact with everyone here and tell them how it feels to live in a place completely overrun by the supernatural. During lunch, Danny gets elected to get lunch. Jamie wants her hamburger and chips. Ashley wants a chicken wrap and everyone taunts her about it. Laughing, everyone else gives their orders and Danny sets off to get the food. When she returns about 20 minutes later, she calls out: "Munchies!" everyone laughs and then turns somber. "To think it will be the last time this ugly ass face brings us lunch." Alice lets out while standing up, hugging Danny, almost making her drop the tray of food. "At least let her put the food down or we'll have a mess." Luke warns, laughing. Begrudgingly, Alice abides and goes to sit down. Danny hands out the food and sits down to eat. They all eat in silence, each busy with their own thoughts. By the time they finished eating, lunch was almost over with just enough time to get to class. They hurry and get seated in their respective seats. It's Danny's favorite subject. Not only because it's math, but also because the teacher is absolutely epic. After class, the teacher keeps her behind. "I'll be sad to have my best pupil leave," she says. "I got a gift for you that I want you to open when there's no one around. Please keep this between us. The letter explains everything." she gives her a hug. The teacher was taken aback by the words. "It doesn't stay long, but the gift ought to help. I hope you will come visit when all is well and, since Elizabeth isn't with us anymore, you can come to ask questions at any time," she says as they walk out of the class, Danny to her next class and miss Walters to the teachers' lounge for her off period. Danny is still thinking of their conversation when she suddenly walks into Jamie. "Sorry!" she exclaims. Just then, she sees who she has run into and whispers. "We need to talk after school." With that, she runs off to her next class. For the rest of the day she's preoccupied, which isn't normal for the normally prized student. Schools out now and Danny sighs. "Hi, Jamie." Jamie isn't the least surprised that Danny noticed her as she approached. In fact, as time when on she stopped sneaking up on her knowing that she'd never be able to do it. "So what do you have to tell me?" "You know miss Walters?" "Yeah, we all know her. She's the math teacher that most people are afraid of because she's epic which is weird for a math teacher and no one knows much about her. Well... everyone except you." Jamie adds with a grin. "What about her?" "Well, she kept me behind for a minute. And put a protection spell on me." "Oh. My. God. Are you telling me she's a witch? Miss Walters? Miss epic-maths-teacher-that-scares-everyone-because-she-is-epic-Walters?" "Yup. Maybe you guys should ask her for help on that crazy hard spell." "Maybe that's exactly what we should do. But not now. Too many kids. I'll ask her after class oneday." "Perfect. Let me know how it goes. It'll be good to have someone with experience in the coven." By the time the discussion is complete, they get to Danny's car. The little car groans a bit on the way home, as if it could know what's awaiting it. Jup, Danny thinks to herself. It's time for a new one. This girl is going to a collector who just happened to need a buggy for his collection. But she will still miss the poor thing. "He'll take good care of you, Sweetie." Danny mutters, as if to soothe her. She gets home and decides to do the spell immediately after dinner. She goes up to her room that used to be beautiful, with violet drapes with lilac flowers on and a matching bedspread but all this was packed up the previous weekend with all her paintings, ornaments, jewelry and most of her clothes and other items. All that's left is the bare necessities. Danny giggles. Reminds her of a song from a movie. She sighs, takes the spellbook from her overnight bag and starts flipping through. "Here we go," she says when she finds the spell. She memorized the words before and just wanted to make sure she has it right. Time to head downstairs. Sneaking past her dad would usually be next to impossible. But she will be able to get out with ease as he is on the phone. She gets out and quickly does the spell making sure no one hears her. She can physically see the spell being lifted and heads back inside. She goes to the kitchen and turns on the stove. Then she turns it back off and call a pizza delivery service. She just remembered everything was already in boxes. Food and cooking tools included. "Dad! I'm getting pizza what do you want?" "Just a Regina thanks sweetie." Around that time the pizza guy answers and she places the order giving the address for the last time. The night was quiet. Jackson was leaving in the morning. Danny's car was sold and she flies to New Orleans the day after. ~ The next morning Jackson leaves early. "Goodbye, sweetie." he says kissing Danny on the forehead and gives her a tight hug. "Bye, daddy. See you tomorrow. I'm heading to Jaime's in an hour." she replies. It's not long and then they leave. Him in his car and the moving van behind him. As soon as he leaves, Danny gets in the shower. The water flows down her naked body and she closes her eyes, the years of memories going through her head and it's not just the shower water flowing over her cheeks, but then she gains control again promising never to let anyone see her cry and to be strong for her mom's sake if not for her own. She steps out of the shower gets dressed and starts packing in her stuff. She is just done when she hears Jaime's car pull up outside along with that of the sales agent. The house has been cleaned already and is ready for the new owners to move in. Danny takes the last of her stuff, locks the door, hands the keys to the agent and gets into Jaime's car after putting her stuff in the back. "Cool let's go. Thanks for letting me crash at your house tonight. Sure your mom and dad won't mind though?" "All cool. My parents love you but they asked me if we could run some errands for a bit." she replied as she pulls away. It's not odd for her mom to ask them to do these things as Melissa usually doesn't go out unless its for business. So I guess I'm used to it. Not long and we get to the mall. We hop out and I grab my purse. We usually use the mall trips to the mall for a shopping spree as well and Danny need a new dress and boots. And Jaime enjoys shopping. Danny on the other hand tries to go when sent to make it a one time trip. "Lets head for Starbucks first. I know you are dying for a latte." Jaime says laughing. It's no secret Danny loves her coffee. "And then Forever 21?" Danny suggested. She isn't usually one for clothes shopping but this is needed. Jaime looks shocked at first and then realizes this is why the normal complaints didn't come. See when Melissa knows Danny will be in the car she sends them shopping knowing it won't take the whole day. "Mmmm..." Danny moans with closed eyes as the first sip of coffee today comes over her lips and into her mouth. She can feel the life and energy starts coursing through her body. Suddenly she feels Jaime staring at her. "What?" she asks looking at Jaime. "You look ready to have an orgasm!" she says laughing. Danny can feel her face warming up. She is now officially redder than a tomato. "You can't say stuff like that in public!" Danny exclaims trying to hide the fact that she is blushing. "Anyway. Come on lets get going." They do their shopping and it's about and hour later that they walk out with everything they and Melissa needed. The drive to Jaime's house is quiet and once they got there, Melissa hugs them. She has always considered Danny as a second daughter and adored Jaime's "human" best friend. Since Jaime and Danny didn't like the way witches conducted their business she asked for people not to know she is one too. Jaime respected her decision and thus after a huge tantrum when Melissa tried to hug Danny separately they kept her secret by forcing Melissa to always hug them at the same time. This way if she senses the ability to use magic she always thinks it comes from her daughter instead of Danny. (A witch knows another witch by way of touch.) They help Melissa pack her groceries away and head up to have a shower. "Why don't you put on that new outfit of yours? Then we can go out after dinner." Jaime suggested. "We'll be back early and you can get some shuteye before your flight tomorrow." Danny agrees and it's not long before the wears her black stocking tight, dark green dress with a black jacket and black knee high boots. Her hair is in a high ponytail and her make up light with just a bit of mascara and nude lip-gloss. When she comes out of the bathroom, Jaime is wearing black skinny jeans, a scarlet red top with decorative circles, black ankle boots and a short, long sleeve leather jacket. Her hair is braided and her make up consisting of concealer, blush, dark eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner and dark red lipstick. "Wow. You look fantastic." Danny exclaims. "Thanks. But you look way better. But a smoky eye and loose hair could make you look like a goddess." Jaime states. Danny just rolls her eyes. Jaime knows she isn't really one for make up and taking it off is a pain. They head downstairs and into the living room as it wasn't time for dinner yet. All of their friends jump up screaming: "Surprise!" and boy was Danny surprised. A massive banner was put up saying goodbye Danny and snacks and pizza and drinks. "Wow, guys. Did you seriously do this for me?" Danny was completely emotional and it's as if the reality that she won't see her friends again for a long time just hit her. This is the reason she didn't want a party. As she started getting lost in her own thoughts Jaime got behind her and hugged her. "Think of it as not just for you but for us too. We will always cherish our time together. But we need to say our goodbyes and separate in a good way." She was right. Of course she was. Jaime always was when it came to this. So Danny took a deep breath and tried to relax a little. "You're right as usual. I guess it was just unexpected." Danny says looking around and then make her way to the pizza. They got a seafood pizza knowing it was her favorite. It had mussels, calamari rings and small shrimps on. She grabs a plate with 2 pieces on it. It was a large and Danny doesn't usually eat a lot so it's just enough for her. She goes to sit on the couch and watches her friends as she eats. By 10pm, Danny is tired and wish her friends goodnight and one final goodbye. She has a long flight tomorrow after all. She heads upstairs, get in her comfy pajamas and gets into bed. Not even 5 minutes pass and she is asleep. "Wake up!" screamed a much too hyper Jaime at six on a Saturday Morning. "How can you be this cheerful in the morning without coffee?" "It's your last day here, you are not sleeping until it's time to go." Danny sighed and got up. "See you downstairs after my shower?" "Sure. I'll get coffee ready." That put a smile on Danny's face as she got her things and get into the shower. 25 minutes later, Danny is down stairs with a cup of coffee in her hands. She chose to wear a bootleg jean with a purple t-shirt and her brown jacket with black pumps. Her hair in a plain ponytail and no make-up. "So are you ready for this?" Jaime asks knowing the answer but not wanting her mom to find out about her power. "Nope. But I have no choice." Danny says mumbling the last part. Jaime hugs her. "We are all going out for breakfast." Malissa announce as Jaime's dad, Benjamin takes Danny's bag to the car. They go to Honey Uninhibited before going to the airport. They eat in silence waiting for the inevitable. Danny is leaving them. Melissa and Benjamin both grew fond of their daughter's little friend and seeing her go along with knowing the heartbreak it would cause Jaime is a major cause for the sadness growing within all of them. It wasn't long and Benjamin paid the bill. "We bought you a little travel bag that you can take with you on the plane. No opening it until you're on it though." Melissa states handing Danny a purple backpack. "Thanks Melissa" Danny says teary eyed. Taking the backpack. Benjamin clears his throat and starts getting up. "We'd best get going now. As tempting as it sounds, you can't miss your flight." All the women laugh and stands up following him to te car. They drive the 15 minutes to the airport. "Well. Here we go." They walk in together and everyone hugs Danny. "Don't forget to text and I want a phone call every day." Jaime says. "Let us know if you need anything." Melissa adds. And with that. Danny is off.
