"Nevaeh," he said surprised as he rushed to me and gathered me in a hug.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around his form as his grip tightened.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with a wide smile.
He pulled away holding me at arms length as he smirked.
"Well I knew my two girls probably missed me from the short amount of time we've been apart. And plus..."
He trailed off as he looked back at Delilah and narrowed his gaze.
"I should have come earlier from what I've heard about you and Avrils mates. You both only told me about Avril being Alejandro's mate. Why the f**k didn't you tell me about yours? Why would you put yourself through this!?"
From what started out as a soft tone ended in a demand. I kind of expected this reaction from him.
"I didn't tell you because I knew you would react this way. Dad and I are only here for the week. That's all I needed to look forward to. To leave this place. And before you reprimand me more, I tolerated it so I could still stick by my fathers side and assist him. I came here for him not for me. Plus...Axel and I spoke and he wants me Rick." I said mumbling the last part.
Frederick narrowed his gaze and tilted his head acting as if he didn't hear the last bit when I knew full and well he did since we had sensitive hearing.
"What was that Nev?"
"You heard me," I said rubbing my temple.
"He can't be with you when he's with her," he argued pointing at Delilah causing her eyes to water at how rude Frederick was being to her.
"Frederick," she whispered but he ignored her.
I glared at my best friend and placed my hands on my hips.
"Don't be such an asshole to her, it's a misunderstanding."
"How the f**k is having a chosen a misunderstanding. It's purely black and white."
"Everything's black and white to you. You trust your eyes yet you don't know the full story," I argued.
He rolled his eyes and cast a look at Delilah before grabbing my arm and pulling me away.
"What are you doing?" I asked confused as he dragged me away ignoring Delilah's pleas for him to come back.
"We are going to talk, but first we have to find Avril."
I pulled my arm from his grasp shaking it out as he stopped in his tracks looking at me with a raised brow.
"I can walk perfectly fine on my own. I don't need you pulling me around like a rag doll."
"Dramatic," he mumbled before turning on his heel and walking towards the ballroom.
I followed behind him as he pushed open the doors and scanned the room as people talked and laughed among themselves.
My eyes met with Axels as he raised a brow at me. I only shrugged before Frederick ended up grabbing my arm again and pulling me along after him.
"Bloody hell rick, must you be so rough?" I complained.
"Avril," he called out as he spotted her in a heated conversation with Alejandro.
"No is no Alejandro, so get that through your...oh hey guys when did you get here?" She asked as she watched us approach with a confused look at Frederick.
"Who are you?" Alejandro asked with a narrowed gaze.
Before he could answer he was interrupted.
"Frederick Halsey, Gamma to Alpha Ezra. I'm assuming your the kings personal warrior Alejandro," he said as he held out his hand.
Alejandro nodded and grabbed his hand.
"Alejandro Callaghan. Nice to meet you Gamma."
Frederick smiled and then looked at Avril before meeting Alejandro's gaze again.
"Do you mind if I speak to Beta Avril. We have a few things to discuss."
Alejandro looked at me and I smiled with a nod to say he could trust him.
Alejandro nodded and faced Avril. He grabbed her hand placing a light kiss on it before winking at her when she narrowed her gaze.
"Soon dulzura de mi vida."
When he walked away Frederick snickered while Avril turned her glare on him.
"Shut up Ricky and lets go," she said annoyed as she grabbed both our wrists and dragged us to the door.
I muffled my laughter when I noticed the slight tinge of pink on her cheeks to show she was blushing.
Isn't that adorable.
As soon as we made it to a vacant room, Frederick seated us down before Standing in front of us with his arms crossed.
Avril and I shared a look before looking at our best friend who looked at us with a calculating gaze.
"First of all...you both have mates here. One being the mate of the kings warrior while the Other is the mate to the King..."
He tapped his chin then narrowed his gaze at us.
Avril rolled her eyes and huffed.
"Me having a mate doesn't change anything. I will still come home and learn the ropes of being the Beta. I refuse to stay here and play house wife. Plus I don't need him, I'm perfectly fine on my own."
"Always so stubborn. We both know your ass is either staying here or going back home. But not as the Beta. It would be as the betas mate. The males will always get the title Avril and you know that."
"Over my dead body," she grumbled as she threw her arm over her face while leaning back on the chair.
Frederick rolled his eyes before focusing on me.
I raised I brow as he hummed crossing his arms.
"Go on..." I encouraged knowing he had a lot of say.
"Your mates with the king who already has a destined. How the f**k are you planning to work that out without it reflecting badly on you?"
"Ugh I know it will look bad to the public and it will seem like I ruined their relationship, but I'm his mate. Axel and Delilah don't even like each other. They were only aware of the engagement the day their fathers publicly announced their union. They aren't even intimate. You still have a chance with Delilah Ricky."
I could see the conflicting emotions sift through his eyes as he clenched his jaw. I knew the situation with Delilah was getting to him even though he acted as if he didn't care. Frederick was a big softie.
"Wait a minute..." Avril cut in as she narrowed her gaze at our friend.
"Are you mates with her royal highness?"
Not needing an answer from him she threw her head back and laughed.
"The f*****g irony that all of us found our mates here and two of them are destined," she cackled slapping her thighs causing me to chuckle.
It was definitely something out of the ordinary.
Frederick shot her a look before flipping her off.
"f**k you Avril".
Avril was about to say something before the doors opened revealing the people of the hour.
Alejandro, Delilah and Axel.
Great.
Axel narrowed his gaze before taking a step forward.
I looked at Delilah to see her looking at Frederick with a longing look. He only stared at her with a bored expression before turning his gaze on Axel.
Alejandro smirked at Avril who narrowed her gaze at him in return.
As soon as I made eye contact with Axel I smiled. His eyes softened before they darkened when he focused his gaze back on Frederick.
Let's hope things don't get dramatic...
