Chapter Four Shannon began with an assessment of what the cabin offered in the way of cooking equipment. She found plenty of pots, pans, small appliances, including an electric mixer, hand tools, and cutlery. The stove wasn’t the latest model, but it wasn’t old either, and the burners heated up when she turned the knobs. She got the potatoes from the bowl and began to peel them. The rhythmic swish and swoosh of the peeler taking off potato skin couldn’t distract her thoughts from the man resting in the next room. The way he’d looked at her when he thought she wasn’t watching grabbed her attention. Not that she minded. She’d sent a few of the same sorts of glances toward him.
