Chapter 17Nicole
It was nearly three o’clock—and surprisingly warm for early March—and after almost an entire day of working her ass off cleaning, Nicole had only managed to get four of the nine cabins cleaned to Velinda’s satisfaction. Every time Nicole thought she was finished, the woman appeared out of nowhere to point out some negligent infraction Nicole had committed despite her best efforts, after which Velinda would stand and hmph repeatedly while Nicole tried to correct the mistake under her watchful eye. A tiny streak on a bathroom mirror, a barely discernible wrinkle in a pillowcase, the folds in the toilet paper roll not symmetrical enough for her. There was no pleasing the woman!
Nicole had been too embarrassed over what had happened earlier with Jesse to mention it to Velind
