She’d run again last night, run until most of the ranch was dark, including the office trailer. But all through her run, Nicole’s incredible voice had stayed with her. Oh sure, she was amazing on that violin of hers and Jesse had clapped along with the others. But once Nicole started singing…Even now, Jesse could hear her. Even over the sound the grain made when it hit the horses’ buckets, she could still hear that voice, clear and confident and loaded with feelings, all of them directed toward her.
Automatically, Jesse avoided Midnight’s snapping teeth and Spirit’s drool as she filled their buckets.
