Chapter 37Nicole
Nicole was humming as she finished the last of the cabin cleaning and restocking. She had a little more work to do this morning after having the afternoon off yesterday but, worrisome as the day had been, it had turned out well and the story of her and Jesse’s little adventure gave everyone a laugh at breakfast. Jesse had been talkative and Gittie watched her with a pleased look on her face. Even Velinda was not her usual grumpy self. She’d gotten a call from her son the night before and shared the news that her daughter-in-law was expecting the couple’s first baby. She did her usual complaining that people were really going to think she was old now that she was going to be a grandmother, but it was obvious she was thrilled by the news.
