Return of the maid
The Anderson mansion looked like a fortress with secrets, with its high towering gates opening slowly as Clarissa Monroe, now bearing the name Erica Jones, stepped inside. The sky matched her mood, leaving shadows across the lawns and pristine flower beds. To everyone here, she was just the new head maid, hired to keep the mansion running like a clock. But beneath the uniform and the calm appearance, Clarissa was here for a much darker reason—revenge. As she walked up the stone path leading to the main entrance, memories of her past flashed back. She remembered when she used to visit this mansion as Damian Anderson’s girlfriend, a young naive woman who believed in love and promises. But those days were far gone. Damian had betrayed her, framing her for a crime she didn’t commit and leaving her to fend for herself. After faking her own death, she spent years plotting her return, carefully crafting her new identity to enter the Andersons’ world. Clarissa adjusted her uniform, her eyes catching sparkles of the gold-plated door handles. She used her shoulders and pushed the heavy door open , stepping into the grand palace that echoed with the sound of her footsteps. Every detail of the mansion screamed wealth and power, but to Clarissa, it was nothing more than a cage—one she intend to destroy piece by piece. “Good morning, Ms. Jones,”Nancy greeted, one of the housekeepers who had been with the family for years. Nancy was the only person who knew Clarissa’s true identity and her purpose for being there. She had always been a loyal friend when Clarissa needed one the most, and now she was a crucial ally. “Morning, Nancy,” Clarissa replied with a smile. “ Everything set for the day?” “Absolutely . The Anderson's will soon be down for breakfast,” Nancy replied, as her eyes seriously looking at Clarissa for any sign of hesitation. “Are you sure you're ready for this Clarissa?” Clarissa nodded with an angry look. “I’ve been ready for this for a long time.” Nancy gave a small, supportive nod before going back to her duties, leaving Clarissa alone to face the day. She took a moment to brace herself, trying to smoothen the fabric of her uniform and adjusting her uniform. She couldn’t afford any mistakes—not when she was this close. As she walked through the mansion, she couldn’t help but notice the dire changes since she last visited years ago. The art on the walls were different, the furniture was in a more modern style, yet the air around carried the same suffocating mix of secrecy and power. The first test of her plan came sooner than expected. Damian Anderson himself emerged from his office, his eyes looking with a braze sharpness. He was as handsome and intimidating as ever, his presence commanding the room. Clarissa’s heart pounded , but she kept her expression neutral, bowing her head slightly in acknowledgment. “Good morning, Mr. Anderson,” she greeted him, her voice firm. Damian barely looked at her, his mind clearly occupied with matters more important than the new maid. “Morning,” he replied , giving a dismissive tone . He didn’t recognize her—of course, he didn’t. Her transformation had made sure of that. Still, she seeing him up close sent a wave mix of anger and hurt that she buried deep inside. This was the man who had destroyed her life, but he would pay for it soon enough. As Damian walked past , Clarissa clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. She watched him go into the dining room, where Isabella Anderson, the family’s matriarch, was already seated, sipping her morning tea. Isabella was the mastermind behind all of the family’s schemes, a woman as elegant and ruthless. Clarissa knew she had to be careful with Isabella, who could sniff out life out of her. “Ms. Jones,” Isabella called, her voice commanding “Join us for a moment.” Clarissa approached the dining table, her heart shaking and looking frightened. Isabella’s eyes were like a hawk watching her every move. “Yes, Mrs. Anderson?” Clarissa responded, “I trust you’re settling in well,” Isabella said, her tone sounding like a challenge . “We expect nothing but excellence.” “Of course, Mrs. Anderson. I intend to meet your expectations,” Clarissa replied. . She had studied this family for years, she knew their routines, their habits, and most importantly, their weaknesses. “See that you do that,” Isabella said, as she gazed around too long before she dismissed Clarissa with a wave of her hand. As Clarissa turned to leave, her eyes caught sight of Michael Anderson strolling into the room. Michael, with his easy charm and cute smile, was the wild card of the family. Unlike Damian, Michael’s attention on her, his eyes filled with a curiosity that made Clarissa uneasy. “New maid?” Michael asked, with a light tone. “Erica Jones,” Clarissa introduced herself, keeping a polite expression. “Head maid, sir.” “Welcome aboard, Erica,” Michael said, with a smile . “I have a feeling you’re going to make things… interesting around here.” Clarissa looked at him without flinching. “I’m just here to do my job, sir.” Michael chuckled, his eyes still on her as he took a seat at the table. Clarissa quickly excused herself, heading back to the kitchen where Nancy waiting for her “How did it go?” Nancy asked, with a low voice. “Better than expected,” Clarissa said, though she couldn’t take off that feeling that Michael’s eyes were still on her, even from a distance. “But it’s just the beginning.” Nancy nodded, giving a serious expression. “Remember why you’re here. Don’t let them get too close.” “I won’t,” Clarissa vowed, though she knew the path ahead was going to be filled with danger. She came into the Anderson mansion under the disguise of a maid, and she was there to bring them all to their knees. And she isn't going to rest untill each and every last one of them paid for what they had done to her and her family. As she went ahead to prepare for work, Clarissa boosted her determination for the challenges ahead of her. She was in the lion’s den now, and the game had only just begun. But Clarissa Monroe was not a woman easily discouraged. She was here to win, no matter what it takes.
