Chapter 3
"Mommy, my brother and I really didn't do anything this time," Leo said, blinking her big, innocent blue eyes. "It's just that the teacher was stupid!"
"Stupid?" I was completely speechless.
Leo explained the whole incident to me.
"Today, some boys in the class were challenging my brother to a race. Wyatt didn't want to join in those childish games and just wanted to read books. But the gym teacher, who clearly liked certain students more than others, taunted my brother. He said Wyatt was scared to race because he knew he couldn't win. Wyatt ignored his teasing at first, remembering your advice about staying out of trouble.
However, the gym teacher took my brother's silence as an insult to his own ego. He forced Wyatt to participate in the race anyway. The gym teacher also made some mean, indirect comments about you, Mommy, which finally made my brother mad.
Fed up with the bullying, Wyatt challenged the gym teacher to a race instead. His one condition was that if the teacher lost, he would have to apologize to both Wyatt and you. In the end, the gym teacher didn't just lose the race to my brother; he also completely lost his pride in front of the whole school and the other teachers. He became a laughing stock and resigned from his job in humiliation.
I listened to Leo's story with a mix of pride and worry. My children's bravery and cleverness left me feeling both impressed and anxious.
I let out a deep sigh. This was the third kindergarten I had to move them from in the last five months because of similar incidents happening every single time.
The truth was, Wyatt and Leo had inherited a powerful Alpha bloodline from Ethan. This made them very different from normal children their age. Leo was much smarter than typical kids her age, which had caused tension and made her previous kindergarten teachers feel insecure. Usually, werewolf children start developing their special abilities between the ages of eight and ten. However, my twins had started showing their gifts much earlier, around four to five years old. They were stronger and sharper than other children their age, or even some adults. In the race, Wyatt had run faster than the gym teacher, even though he was only five years old and didn't even have his inner wolf yet.
"Mommy, are you mad at us?" Lori asked, biting her lip gently. She looked like a sweet little snowy bunny.
"No, Mommy could never be mad at her babies," I comforted them. I gave them a loving smile and patted both of their heads. It wasn't their fault that they were different from everyone else; actually, it was a blessing and a gift from the goddess.
"We will find a new kindergarten for the two of you. But for now, let's go get some ice cream!" I smiled widely, trying to cheer them up.
"Yay!" Wyatt and Leo jumped up and down with excitement. I couldn't help but laugh quietly at my babies' happy faces. Wyatt started telling me about a favor he wanted, and I nodded, listening to his cute, childish voice. He had forest green eyes, just like Ethan, inheriting his father’s good looks and sharp features. He looked just like a tiny version of Ethan.
"Mommy, I want both chocolate and vanilla!" Leo pulled on my sleeve to get my attention. Thankfully, my baby girl didn't inherit everything from her father. She had ocean-blue eyes and was incredibly cute. I couldn't help but pull them both into a warm hug.
"Mommy is very happy today, so you two can eat whatever you want!" I smiled, and their eyes lit up with excitement as they nodded eagerly.
Just as we were talking, Lola walked in and said, "Willow, there is someone here to see you."
I turned to her, a little confused. I couldn't remember making any appointments with anyone. "Who is it?"
"It’s me," a deep male voice rang out through the dining room, followed by the sound of footsteps coming closer.
"Grandpa!" Wyatt and Leo shouted together and rushed over to the man. I turned around and saw the older werewolf hugging and kissing my two little kids.
"We missed you so much, Grandpa!" Leo added happily.
"I missed you two as well!" he said, picking them both up in his arms. "Leo, my princess, how did you become even more beautiful and cute? What if a prince comes along and steals you away from me?" He looked truly worried.
"Grandpa, don't worry. Leo will always be grandpa's princess," Leo comforted him, giving him a tight hug and kissing his cheek.
"Yes, Leo is only Grandpa's princess," he laughed. Then, acting very dramatic, he added, "My little angels have grown so much taller and stronger!"
Wyatt nodded seriously and said, "Yes, Grandpa. By getting stronger, I can protect Mommy from any bad guys who try to get close to her, my daddy."
"That's my boy!" he said seriously.
"Alpha Liam, please don't encourage them," I scolded him, crossing my arms over my chest to show I was annoyed. Ever since Wyatt and Leo started to understand how adult relationships work, and noticed that a few male models were paying attention to me, they had been way too eager to protect me from any potential boyfriends.
"We just don't want some evil man to be our daddy, Mommy," Wyatt said, and Leo nodded to agree. I rolled my eyes and turned to face them, completely used to how protective they always were.
"Me too," Alpha Liam added.
Alpha Liam was the Alpha I had saved from that car accident six years ago. On that life-changing day, he recognized me even though I had no memory of him. It turned out he was my father's best friend. Out of gratitude for saving his life, he had asked me to join his pack. He explained that my father had actually saved his life once when Alpha Benjamin was just a young Alpha. To repay my father's kindness, he took me in as his own daughter. He was so kind that I happily accepted.
During my time in his pack, he provided me with a safe home and a father's love. With his help, I was able to leave the country and come to Britain to chase my successful career. Alpha Liam was just like a real father to me, and I respected him deeply. He had raised my twins as his own grandkids and loved them more than life itself.
"Iris, how are you doing, my girl?" Alpha Benjamin walked closer to me and wrapped me in a warm hug.
"I'm fine, Alpha," I replied with a smile, hugging him back. We hadn't seen each other in half a year. "What brings you here today?" I asked. raising an eyebrow.
Whenever he visited, he always brought some kind of surprise, and I was curious to see what it was this time.
"Iris, it's time for you to return to America, my girl," he said with a smile.
"America? Why?" My smile disappeared. I hadn't been back there in six years.
Alpha Benjamin took my hand and placed an invitation card in it. "You are going to attend an Alpha ball for me."
