Chapter 2 — First Blood
[VAMPIRE SYSTEM — FIRST LOCK BREAKING.]

[23%...]

Noah stared at the crimson numbers floating before his eyes.
The vampire across the alley didn't move.
He simply watched.
Almost patiently.
“Interesting,” the stranger repeated.
Noah tightened his fists.
“What are you?”
The vampire smiled.
“You should be asking what you are.”
The system continued counting.
[68%...]
Noah suddenly felt something surge through his body.
His muscles tightened.
The rain seemed to slow.
The sounds around him became painfully clear.
He could hear the water dripping from rooftops.
The electrical hum of the streetlights.
The heartbeat of a rat hiding beneath a dumpster.
And—
The vampire's heartbeat.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Noah's eyes widened.
I can hear him.
The vampire tilted his head.
“You've already developed enhanced perception.”
“How?”
“You were born with it.”
Noah froze.
“Born?”
The vampire's smile disappeared.
“Not exactly.”
He took another step.
“You inherited it.”
[91%...]
Noah's body suddenly moved.
The vampire vanished.
A fist appeared directly in front of Noah's face.
Noah instinctively ducked.
WHOOSH!
The punch passed over his head.
Noah didn't even think.
His body reacted on its own.
He twisted.
His elbow slammed into the vampire's ribs.
THUD!
The vampire moved backward several meters.
Noah stared at his own arm.
“I hit him?”
The vampire looked down at his side.
A faint mark appeared on his coat.
His expression changed.
For the first time, he looked genuinely surprised.
“You shouldn't be able to do that.”
Noah raised his fists.
“I don't know what I'm doing.”
The vampire slowly smiled.
“That makes it even more interesting.”
[100%.]

A series of windows appeared.

Noah blinked.
These numbers are my abilities?
[Correct.]
Can they increase?
[Yes.]
How?
The system displayed another message.
[Experience.]
[Blood.]
[Evolution.]
Noah swallowed.
“So I have to fight.”
The vampire laughed.
“Now you're beginning to understand.”
Noah looked at him.
“Who are you?”
The stranger remained silent for a moment.
Then he stepped beneath the streetlight.
“My name is Lucien.”
The name seemed to carry weight.
Noah didn't know why.
But the moment Lucien introduced himself, the system reacted.
[Target identified.]
[Lucien.]
[Race: Vampire.]
[Level: 27.]
[Threat classification: Extreme.]
[Recommendation: FLEE.]
Noah frowned.
“That's not very encouraging.”
Lucien laughed.
“You're level one.”
“I know.”
“You cannot defeat me.”
“Probably not.”
“Then why are you still standing?”
Noah looked down at his hands.
Because he didn't have an answer.
He should run.
Every instinct told him to run.
But something inside him refused.
Maybe it was anger.
Maybe fear.
Or maybe it was the strange feeling that his life had changed for a reason.
Noah looked up.
“Because I'm tired of running.”
Lucien's smile disappeared.
Then—
He attacked.
---
Noah barely saw him move.
BOOM!
A fist struck his stomach.
Noah flew backward.
His body crashed through several wooden crates.
Pain exploded through his abdomen.
He rolled across the pavement.
“Gah!”
[Damage detected.]
[Vitality decreasing.]
Noah tried to stand.
Lucien was already there.
A kick sent Noah flying again.
He slammed against the brick wall.
CRACK!
For a moment, Noah couldn't breathe.
Lucien approached.
“You possess potential.”
Noah coughed.
“But potential means nothing without power.”
Lucien grabbed Noah by the throat and lifted him from the ground.
Noah struggled.
The grip was impossibly strong.
“Tell me,” Lucien said quietly.
“Where did you get that blood?”
Noah couldn't speak.
Lucien's eyes narrowed.
“The bloodline inside you.”
Noah forced out a few words.
“I... don't know.”
Lucien stared at him.
Then his expression became cold.
“Then I'll find out myself.”
His fangs extended.
Noah's eyes widened.
The vampire moved toward his neck.
The system flashed.
[Critical threat.]
[Host life expectancy: 4 seconds.]
[Emergency ability available.]
[Blood Rush.]
[Activate?]
Noah didn't hesitate.
“Yes!”
[Blood Rush activated.]
Something exploded inside him.
His veins burned.
His vision turned crimson.
His muscles surged with power.
Lucien's eyes widened.
“What—?”
Noah grabbed Lucien's wrist.
For the first time, Lucien couldn't move.
Noah's fingers tightened.
CRACK.
Lucien's expression changed.
Noah pulled himself free.
He landed on the ground.
His body was shaking.
[Temporary physical enhancement activated.]
[Strength increased.]
[Agility increased.]
[Duration: 30 seconds.]
Noah stared at Lucien.
Thirty seconds.
That was all he had.
Lucien smiled.
“So that's your ability.”
Noah rushed forward.
BOOM!
His fist connected with Lucien's face.
Lucien staggered.
Noah attacked again.
And again.
His movements were wild.
Untrained.
But fast.
Much faster than before.
Lucien blocked one punch.
Then another.
The third slipped through.
CRACK!
Lucien's head snapped sideways.
Noah followed with a kick.
Lucien blocked it, but the force sent him backward.
Noah stood there breathing heavily.
[Blood Rush: 21 seconds remaining.]
Lucien touched the blood on his lip.
He stared at it.
Then he laughed.
“You actually hurt me.”
Noah raised his fists.
“Surprised?”
“Very.”
Lucien suddenly disappeared.
Noah's eyes darted around.
Nothing.
Then—
A voice whispered behind him.
“Too slow.”
Noah turned.
Lucien's fist was already coming.
Noah raised his arm.
BOOM!
The impact sent him sliding across the wet pavement.
[Blood Rush: 12 seconds remaining.]
Noah gritted his teeth.
He couldn't win.
Not like this.
Then he smelled it.
Blood.
Lucien's blood.
A small amount was dripping from the cut on his lip.
Noah's hunger exploded.
His pupils narrowed.
The system appeared.
[High-quality blood detected.]
[Vampire blood.]
[Consumption may provide temporary enhancement.]
Noah stared at Lucien.
Vampire blood...
The hunger became overwhelming.
He could hear his own thoughts disappearing beneath it.
Drink.
Drink.
Drink.
“No!”
Noah grabbed his head.
He couldn't lose control.
Lucien watched him carefully.
“What is happening?”
Noah's eyes suddenly locked onto the blood.
The system displayed another message.
[Unique opportunity detected.]
[Skill acquisition possible.]
[Requirement: Consume blood from a stronger vampire.]
Noah looked at Lucien.
Then at the blood.
He understood.
If he could take even a little—
He might survive.
Noah rushed forward.
Lucien raised his hand.
“You're not strong enough.”
Noah ducked beneath his attack.
He grabbed Lucien's shoulder.
His fangs extended.
For one terrifying second, Noah hesitated.
Then he bit.
---
Lucien froze.
His eyes widened.
Noah tasted blood.
And the world exploded.
Memories flooded his mind.
A castle beneath a red moon.
Thousands of vampires kneeling before an enormous throne.
A battlefield covered in ash.
A woman with silver hair standing beneath a burning sky.
And a man—
A man whose face Noah couldn't see.
He heard a voice.
“The bloodline must never awaken.”
Another voice screamed.
“Kill the child!”
Then—
Darkness.
Noah released Lucien and fell to his knees.
The visions disappeared.
[Vampire blood consumed.]
[Blood Energy +30.]
[Level requirement exceeded.]
[Unique skill acquired.]
[Blood Memory]
Allows the host to glimpse memories contained within consumed blood.
Noah stared at the notification.
“What... was that?”
Lucien stumbled backward.
His face had lost all color.
“You...”
He stared at Noah as though he had seen a ghost.
“You drank my blood.”
Noah slowly stood.
“Yeah.”
Lucien's expression changed.
“You saw it, didn't you?”
Noah said nothing.
“The memory.”
Lucien's voice became quieter.
“You saw the past.”
Noah stared at him.
“Who was the man?”
Lucien's eyes widened.
“You shouldn't know about him.”
“Who was he?”
Lucien backed away.
For the first time, Noah saw genuine fear in the vampire's face.
Then Lucien whispered:
“The Blood King.”
The system suddenly flashed red.
[EXTREME WARNING.]
[Forbidden name detected.]
[Ancient entity recognized.]
[Bloodline connection confirmed.]
Noah's breathing stopped.
“Blood King?”
Lucien looked toward the sky.
The rain had begun to weaken.
“You don't understand what you've awakened.”
Noah stepped toward him.
“Then explain.”
Lucien shook his head.
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because if the other clans discover you're alive...”
Lucien looked directly into Noah's crimson eyes.
“They will come for you.”
Noah clenched his fists.
“Let them.”
Lucien smiled bitterly.
“You still don't understand.”
Then his body began turning into mist.
Noah's eyes widened.
“Wait!”
Lucien's voice echoed through the alley.
“When they come...”
The mist disappeared.
“...don't trust anyone who calls you king.”
Silence returned.
Noah stood alone beneath the rain.
The system appeared one final time.
[Combat complete.]
[Enemy survived.]
[Experience gained: 140.]
[Level increased.]
[LEVEL 2]
[New ability slot unlocked.]
Noah stared at the screen.
Then another message appeared.
[Main Quest Updated.]
THE BLOODLINE
Objective: Discover the origin of Noah Vale's bloodline.
Reward: Unknown.
Failure: Unknown.
Noah looked toward the dark street where Lucien had disappeared.
His life had ended tonight.
But somehow—
Something else had begun.
He looked at his hands.
Then smiled.
“Fine.”
He turned toward the city.
“If they're coming for me...”
His crimson eyes glowed beneath the darkness.
“...I'll be ready.”
Far above the city, hidden behind the clouds, a massive red moon slowly emerged.
And somewhere in the darkness—
A pair of ancient eyes opened.
“He has awakened.”
To be continued...
