17 “The Defense calls on Agent Jack Hunter.” Rising from his seat in the gallery, Jack nodded once. Let’s get this over with. He shuffled past several people and then strode through the aisle between the benches. He could hear the sound of voices murmuring. Not all of it was pleasant. Cassi looked up as he passed her table and offered the barest hint of a smile. Her face was paler than usual, and there were dark circles under her eyes.
