Chapter 10: "Secret Meeting"*

Professor Nightshade sat at the head of the table, surrounded by a group of older vampires and werewolves. The air was thick with tension as they discussed the recent attacks. "I think it's clear what they're after," Professor Nightshade said, his eyes scanning the room. "They must be looking for the Mind Stone." One of the older vampires, a tall, imposing figure with piercing eyes, spoke up. "So many towns are after it. I thought we made them think it was destroyed when the king and queen died." Eira, a wise and powerful witch, shook her head. "Now that the news is out, we have to come up with a plan to protect ourselves from possible enemies, at least the close ones around us." Professor Nightshade nodded in agreement. "I think it's time we took measures to secure Ashwood. Eira, I want you to gather the strongest witches in Ashwood and cast a spell to prevent any outsiders from entering our town." Eira nodded, her eyes flashing with determination. "I'll gather the witches and we'll cast the spell tonight, at the center of the town." The others nodded in agreement, their faces set with determination. They knew that they had to act quickly to protect their town and the people they cared about. "We'll meet at the town center at midnight," Professor Nightshade said, his eyes scanning the room. "Let's make sure we're prepared for whatever might come our way." The meeting adjourned, and the group dispersed, each member determined to do their part in protecting Ashwood. Astrid opened the door to Lyra's house, letting Kael and Cormac in. They made themselves at home, plopping down on the couch. "I'll grab some drinks," Kael said, getting up and heading to the fridge. Lyra raised an eyebrow as she watched him. "Look who's making themselves right at home." Kael just smiled and continued drinking his soda. Astrid followed Lyra into her room, shutting the door behind them. "So, are we going to pretend like last night didn't happen?" Astrid asked, a sly grin spreading across her face. Lyra rolled her eyes. "Of course, that's why we're going to make fireworks at Oakwood tonight." Astrid laughed. "No, I mean between you and Kael. The eye contact thing." Lyra's expression turned innocent. "What eye contact thing?" Astrid rolled her eyes. "I know, you know what I mean." She laughed, and Lyra shook her head. "It was just a moment, Astrid. It's nothing. Forget about it." Astrid's grin didn't waver. "Okay, but just so you know, I'm excited to see what happens tonight." Lyra smiled, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Speaking of which, which outfit says 'I'm angry and I want to take revenge'?"
