Lyra woke up to an unusual sensation. She felt a strange tingling in her eyes, like they were buzzing with an otherworldly energy. She sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes, wondering if she was still dreaming. But as she opened them again, she saw that her green eyes were glowing with an eerie light.
Lyra's heart skipped a beat. This was not the first time her eyes had glowed, but it was a rare occurrence. According to her research, her eyes only glowed on special days, days when the celestial alignment was just right. But what did it mean? Should she panic or tell Professor Nightshade or Astrid about it?
Lyra threw off her covers and got out of bed, trying to shake off the feeling of unease. She decided to keep the glowing eyes to herself for now and focus on her daily routine. She got dressed, grabbed her bag, and headed out the door.
As she walked to the Raven's Den, Lyra's mind wandered back to her glowing eyes. What could be the significance of this phenomenon? Was it a sign of something big to come?
Lost in thought, Lyra didn't notice the man standing in front of her until she collided with him. The man was tall, at least 6'4", with piercing blue eyes that seemed to bore into her soul. His hair was a dark blond, cut short and stylishly messy. His skin had a warm, golden undertone, and his body was chiseled, with broad shoulders and a lean waist.
But what caught Lyra's attention was the man's smirk. He looked at her with a mixture of amusement and disdain, like she was a pesky insect that needed to be swatted away.
"Watch where you're going," the man said, his voice dripping with condescension.
Lyra's eyes flashed with anger. "And watch your mouth. I'm not some clumsy little girl who can't even walk down the street."
The man raised an eyebrow, his smirk growing wider. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots. You're a real firecracker, aren't you?"
Lyra's face burned with anger. "You have no idea who I am or what I'm capable of. So back off, before I show you what I can do."
The man chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I'm not backing off. I'm just getting started."
Lyra's eyes narrowed. "Well, I'm not interested in playing games with you. So, if you'll excuse me, I have better things to do."
With that, Lyra turned on her heel and stormed off, leaving the mysterious stranger looking after her with a mixture of surprise and admiration.
Lyra arrived at the Raven's Den, still fuming from her encounter with the stranger. She spotted Astrid sitting at a table, sipping a cup of coffee.
"Hey, Lyra, what's wrong?" Astrid asked, noticing Lyra's stormy expression.
Lyra plopped down in the chair opposite Astrid. "I just met the most infuriating man. He was rude, condescending, and just plain annoying."
Astrid's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Oh, sounds like someone got under your skin. What did he look like?"
Lyra's face burned with anger. "He was tall, with piercing blue eyes and dark blond hair. And he had this smirk on his face, like he was superior to everyone else."
Astrid chuckled. "Well, maybe he's just what you need. A little challenge to keep you on your toes."
Lyra rolled her eyes. "You're not helping, Astrid."
Astrid grinned. "Sorry, sorry. But seriously, Lyra, you need to learn to relax. You can't let every little thing get to you."
Lyra sighed, knowing Astrid was right. She took a deep breath, letting her anger dissipate.
"Okay, let's forget about the mysterious rude stranger for now. What's the plan for today?"
Astrid's expression turned serious. "We need to pick up our appointed roles for guarding the city tonight. Professor Nightshade will be assigning our positions."
Lyra nodded, her mind focusing on the task at hand. She and Astrid headed to the assignment room, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
As they walked, Lyra couldn't shake off the feeling that the mysterious stranger was going to be a problem. But she was determined to not let him get under her skin again. Little did she know, their encounter was only the beginning of a complicated and tumultuous relationship.
