“Young Master?” Surprise flashed through the woman's face. Then it was quickly replaced with a quick smile. “Thank goodness for your timely arrival, Sir Rowan. This bastard here is a rogue that was caught stealing by me!” She paused, throwing Lucian a disgusting look. “As if stealing wasn't enough, he harassed and deliberately spilled coffee on my expensive dress. He called me unreasonable while showing no remorse for his actions. I want him punished and thrown out!” Rowan frowned. “And who the hell are you to decide that?” The woman crossed her arms in a pompous manner. “I'm Veronica, the newly employed manager of this reputable company. As a manager, it is my duty to ensure orderliness and a serene working environment, but how can I do that when bastards like this can comfortably waltz into the company and cause a nuisance as they want? Sir, there should be tight security to prevent a repeat of what just happened,” Lucian scoffed at the accusations. He couldn't help it. “Have we met before? Why do you keep ridiculing me? Or are you always this disrespectful to people you feel superior to?” Veronica raised her hand, slapping Lucian across the face so hard that he almost lost his footing and fell. “How dare you speak to me in such a manner?! You're in big trouble already, so shouldn't you shut the f**k up and apologize?!” Lucian bit his tongue from cussing at her. The sting from his cheeks was burning, but he didn't want to focus on the pain. The time for negotiations had passed —It was time to teach this uncouth brat a lesson and make her regret running her mouth the way she did. Rowan rushed to Lucian, his eyes expressing concern. “Are you okay, young master? You're not badly hurt, are you?” The front desk staff and the rest of the guards were surprised at the concern. How could the boss be sympathetic towards this loser? And why did he appear so furious at Veronica, like she committed a grave sin? He was supposed to order this jerk to be thrown out at once! Why hesitate? Calling him young Master? What rubbish! The front desk lady quickly stepped forward. “Sir, you shouldn't associate with this rascal. He's a thief who sneaked in to cause trouble in the company. He gave the security a hard time and then insulted all of us, including the manager. He needs to be taught a bitter lesson!” “Enough!” Rowan commanded. His face was a dark mask of fury. He turned to Veronica and said in a flat tone. “You're fired. Leave the company at once!” Veronica's mouth went dry. Her face twisted in horror, like she had just been punched. “Wh…at? Fired?” She chuckled. “Sir, you're joking, right?” “Should I order security to throw you out before you understand I'm serious?” Rowan said. “How dare you offend the young master? I guess you really want to die!” Veronica's body shook violently. Her eyes shifted to Lucian and chills ran down her spine. Rowan wanted to fire her because of this bastard? What was their relationship with each other? With the way Rowan was treating him with so much respect, it seemed Lucian was a big shot. Wait…was Lucian a hidden boss she didn't know about? Fuck! Does that mean she screwed up big time, offending a powerful man? Rowan growled furiously at the security guards. “What are you waiting for? Throw this b***h out of here and break her legs while you're at it!” Realizing she was ruined, Veronica threw herself on her knees in front of Lucian. She forced a dry chuckle. “I'm so sorry, please! Forgive me, okay? I was just joking and you didn't have to take my words seriously,” “You call humiliating me before the entire company a joke?” Lucian scoffed. “You really are a shameless person. Who ends up on their knees now?” “I…I…I will do anything, sir, please,” She turned to Rowan and grabbed his pants. “Sir, please, don't fire me; I really need this job! My life depends on this job!” “Get this b***h out of my sight now!” Rowan shouted as the guards moved forward. He hurriedly turned to Lucian and bowed deeply. “I'm so sorry for the embarrassment, young master. I'll teach her a bitter lesson and make sure she's blacklisted in every company in the country," Veronica made a choking sound at the back of her throat. Panic clawed at her chest, so tight that she felt dizzy. She rolled on the floor, grabbing Lucian's feet. “Please forgive me, sir! I didn't know you were a big shot,” “Big shot? Do people only deserve respect because of their status? What happened to treating people equally?” Lucian was pissed. “Yes sir, I have committed a grave sin! I was out of my mind back then,” “You're still out of your mind,” Lucian chuckled coldly. “He who plays the band must dance to the beat, don't you agree? You pushed me first and treated me like a piece of furniture because I was poorly dressed. It's time to drown in your own misfortune!” “I'll do anything, please!” Veronica cried, her tears streaming down, smearing mascara on her pale face. The guards were dragging her out at this point but she was still struggling vigorously while begging Lucian. It took her a lot to get this job and now she was about to lose it just like that? How was that fair? With pleading eyes, she looked at the front desk staff, but the other lady abandoned her by walking away. She was alone and screwed! Completely screwed! “Young Master, please follow me. You're late for your class, so I prepared a car for you. Don't worry about Veronica, I'll deal with her strictly and give her a good beating,” Lucian's brows furrowed as he ignored Rowan. Just then, a thought perched on his mind and he smirked before signaling to the guards to leave Veronica. She looked terrible. Her once-perfect face was now a purple shade of red. Her hair was in disarray, like a hornet's nest and her lips were clattering with fear as she quickly fell to his knees before him. Oh, how the mighty had fallen! “You said you'd do anything to keep your job?” It was Lucian's turn to taunt her. “Yes sir! Yes, sir, I'll do anything, please!” “Alright. I have the perfect task for you,” Lucian smiled, but the smile was enough to send layers of chills racing down Veronica's throat.
