CHAPTER TWENTY
Eva rolled over, checking the clock on the bedside. It was eight-thirty. They had been alone for close to three hours. Replete and completely satisfied, Eva felt she should have been exhausted, but the opposite was true. She felt utter invigoration, as if making love to her husband had provided the spark she needed, the incentive to fortify her against what was to come. Or maybe she just needed to feel like a woman again and not a deer in the headlights of an oncoming car.
Madden stretched. “I’ve missed us being together. You had a lot bottled up in there.”
“Never again.” Eva climbed over the bed to her husband, making as much of a show of herself as she could and kissed him.
