Chapter Fourteen The Dark DiscoveryThe first explosion sounded off in the distance, hitting somewhere outside the city’s walls. Mai caught a glimpse of the flash. That was the signal to advance into the castle. Then fire belched up from the second explosion in a different position along the city’s boundary wall. Shouts came from the towers above to open the gate of the giant stone building. To the clanking of chains, a great iron gate retracted up just high enough to allow the castle soldiers out.
Impelo turned to Akra. ‘Are you sure we will be invisible?’
‘As sure as I can be,’ Akra said. ‘Svanire evanesce!’ He gave one sweeping wave over the group with his wand and they all disappeared.
