Chapter 24The drive to the bed and breakfast turned out to be faster than he’d anticipated, and within fifteen minutes, he had arrived, found a parking space, and was bounding up the red brick steps. He paused for a second, uncertain if he should just walk in or try the doorbell first. He decided to see if turning the doorknob would work, and he wasn’t sure if he was pleased or sorry when it twisted smoothly beneath his fingers and opened. He drew in a breath and entered the brightly lit lobby that was decorated with swags of pine garlands and fairy lights.
